The UK is considering a partial ban on hybrid cats like Bengals and Savannahs, breeds that are mixed with wild cats. I have many thoughts on the subject... what about you?

It’s just wrong. When there’s so many strays around that need homes instead.

When I was a kid I wanted to have a pet tiger.
As an adult, I know that we arent supposed to have pet tigers. Its not that difficult people.

All of my cats are strays. They are all beautiful.

Sweden already has this kind of ban - any dog or cat with a wild animal four generations or less back is illegal to own, trade or import. It doesn’t mean that breeds like bengals and savannahs don’t exist or are bred here (from individuals further away from their wild ancestry), but it does mean there’s not the same incentive to trade with wild animals.

I prefer domestic cats. Some of the hybrids are beautiful though I think wild cats need to stay wild.

Would love a ban to be put in effect. Too many "garage" breeders, makes me mad

I rescued 2 Bangles. A lady got rid of them bc they wouldn’t breed. She didn’t do enough research to know male bangles are sterile. They are the sweetest babies.

Totally agree! I volunteer at a cat shelter. So many heartbreaking stories. But also, so many MORE heart WARMING stories of abandoned cats and kittens who find forever homes.

1) The reason these cats are in captivity is absolute nonsense.
2) They should totally ban breeding, importing and buying new wild hybrids. They don't just get the looks, they are more to handle as well. And when people are so strongly going for the looks, I doubt they'll be prepared to take care of their additional needs.

So many wonderful ‘regular’ cats are available. I’m with you Jackson!

I was wondering when we’d get to hear your thoughts on this! Can’t wait!

I just came across an instagram of a family that owns an asiatic leopard (in a home where they also have a regular domestic cat) and i was so frustrated by the amount of people asking where they got it so they could get one too. i wish people would learn that tame and domesticated are different things and that wild animals that have been tamed are still wild.

They should ban all selective breeding while they're at it. Munchkins and Scottish folds have terrible health issues that are only likely to get worse because people think certain mutations are "cute" and don't care about the health of the animal. Soon cat breeding will be in the same state as dogs where some breeds can't even function properly, like bulldogs.

So sad and selfish really. There’s so many cats already that need homes. 😢 Keep spreading the word Jackson!

I had no idea these cats were bred like that. I agree with you. As beautiful as they are it is a terrible thing to do for every reason you state. Thank you for educating us

My cat is a Bengal, but I adopted her from a shelter. She was dumped there by a breeder because her Bengal pattern wasn't perfect. She is different to domestic, I adopted her, she was so tiny and traumatized and she is now a happy bigger cat with lots of love. I wasn't looking for a Bengal, but she chose me in her cage and meowed at me. You can get third, fourth generation ones as well that are more domesticated. I do agree that the wild belong in the wild. I had domestic in the past, I wasn't planning on a Bengal, they are are handful. I believe in adoption.

I did cat rescue for many years, sadly the bengal and savanah was ones i seen all to often. Almost always disturbed by the time they came to me. People bought them and didn't provide enough stimulation or environment enrichment. They became board, destructive or aggressive to owners.

cool ban them, rich people really need every part of their lives to be something to brag about. keep your ego away from animals.
