Delayed Surface Marker Buoy Deployment (underwater)

Показать описание
All divers should carry a delayed surface marker buoy (DSMB) when diving in the ocean or a large body of water. If they need to signal their location to the shore or a boat, the DSMB is a highly visible marker that they can deploy underwater or at the surface. Learn how to deploy a DSMB underwater.

Nice video.
May i ask, why do you have to kneel at the sea bottom, and not just hover?

Have a question about exhaling underwater, can I exhale manually on my BCD to correct my buoyancy ? or the rules state to only inflate the BCD via my cylinder? Sorry if it is a silly question i'm new, just took my OWD, trying to spare air to enjoy a bit more.

No way - too easy to lose grip of the reel so instead firmly attach a loose reel to your wrist using a lanyard before you inflate the buoy. Too many confusing hand signals in the demo. (BSAC Advanced Instructor 1719)

Why do you start training people the wrong way, only to later try to fix that mistake by somewhat being neutral? Why not directly the right way?

Try doing that at the surface in 6 foot chop. I almost died.
And had an O ring break that caused a tank leak of air.

Make one that self inflates at the surface !!!!

Unbelievable that an agency is representing such a low quality approach officially on their channel. There is not 1 good reason not to teach divers being neutral from day 1 before anything else.

This video is wrong in so many ways. I am astonished that a professional diving company would release such a video. I will be avoiding this company regarding anything scuba related.

Here are all the mistakes:
1: No idea what half of those signals are supposed to mean, that is not how you explain anything
2: Don't remove the regulator from your mouth without a good reason. Blowing up a buoy is not a good reason
3: DO NOT inflate the Buoy with your mouth.

Right way to do it:
-Hold the reel of string in your hand. DO NOT tie or fasten it to your body
-Take your Oktopus (Reserve regulator?), And put it under the buoy.
-Press the Manual Air Release of the oktopus to fill the buoy.
-Instantly let go of the buoy and hold the reel in your hand until the buoy is on the survace, only then you should fasten the reel to you. (That is done so if the reel has a malfunction you can let go of the reel and the buoy so you won't get dragged to the survace. Because who wants deco sickness?)
-done, now you know the proper way.

Sincerely

PADI certified diver.
