Oh shit, the infamous Eddie Murphy burn.

It's ironic, isn't it? The Eddie Murphy joke was probably the least brutal and offensive, but that's the one that got David Spade in the most trouble! Comedic gold, David!

Funny that Eddie Murphy was pissed off at this, considering he did almost the exact same joke about Garrett Morris back in the 1980s.

I love that Chris Farley protected him twice at Hollywood parties cause he burned them on SNL.

I've been in a David Spade rennaissance since discovering his podcast with Dana Carvey. I forgot how awesome he was back then. Truly great podcast with so many great stories and guests.

It hurt Eddie because it was a little bit true... which is also why it was funny. But all of Spade’s stuff was like that, and it still is.

I love how he dated Heather Locklear later 🤣😂

They should have Spade on SNL once each year just to do one of these.

“David, Eddie Murphy is on the phone and wants to talk to you.”
‘Tell him I’m not here.’
“He knows you’re here and he’s threatening to find you.”

The Antonio Banderas, Michael Bolton, and Heather Locklear jokes were way more ruthless than the one about Eddie. I’ve heard 100 million times worse. If Eddie had any wit at that time, he would have countered back.

Omg, he killed me even more than Chris Farley! So snarky, sarcastic and sardonic. Genius.

The Anna Nicole Smith remark was brutal, and also the funniest bit. David nearly made me pee myself with the "second spine" line.

1995 Spade, early pioneer of the "I liked it better the first time, when it was called [x]" setup.

This clip just drives the point home that SNL isn’t even remotely cutting-edge anymore.

This is the infamous moment that made Eddie Murphy avoid SNL for so long
