Montenegro has incredible diversity; From the jagged mountains in the east to the sparkling Adriatic coastline in the west and the medieval towns scattered all across. In this video, we highlight 12 beautiful places to visit:

12. Stari Bar
This ancient town is home to 240 buildings that lie in ruins and can be visited for a small fee.

11. Sveti Stefan
Of all the towns along the Adriatic coastline, Sveti Stefan is the most unique.

10. Lipa Cave
Lipa Cave is one of the country’s largest and most accessible caves. You can only visit with a guide, but tours leave multiple times per day and last about an hour.

9. Lake Skadar National Park
Skadar Lake has breathtaking vistas and driving around the lake to the viewpoints is an experience in itself. But if you’re looking for a little more adventure, we recommend going on a boat tour or kayaking.

8. Budva
The bustling seaside city of Budva might be Montenegro’s most popular destination to visit. And while most of the city looks modern and new, there is also a beautiful old town.

7. Tara Canyon
With canyon walls reaching over 1,300 meters or 4,265 feet in some places, Tara Canyon is Europe’s largest and deepest canyon. The canyon is best explored from the water level and rafting is the most popular activity.

6. Durmitor National Park
Durmitor National Park's star attraction is the stunning Black Lake, which can easily be explored on foot. But for more adventure, hike to one of the surrounding mountain peaks, such as Prutaš or Bobotov Kuk.

5. Herceg Novi
Herceg Novi is home to a quaint Old Town, filled with tiny squares, elegant churches, and a fortress. But for the best atmosphere, head down to the waterfront.

4. Perast
With similar looks to Venice, Perast has a rich and powerful past. And in spite of having only one main street, this tiny village boasts many churches and former palaces.

3. Kotor
Kotor is also the most historic place to visit in Montenegro. In fact, Kotor was ruled by various different groups, such as the Illyrians, Romans, and Venetians.

2. Lovćen National Park
From Kotor, a narrow serpentine road takes you up to Mt. Lovvćen, boasting spectacular views that stretch the entire bay to the Adriatic Sea.

1. Prokletije National Park
The Prokletije Mountains are one of the best-kept secrets of Europe. The best way to discover the jagged peaks, valleys, and springs, is by hiking one of the many trails.

We never would have thought to visit Montenegro. Then we saw your video and added it to our travel plan this year. A full week to see these sights was a bit rushed for us, but so glad we visited this beautiful country!! The people are wonderful too.

Montenegro is great! Small, but with incredible variations in landscape. Go and you won't regret. I say this as a former hiking guide

As a Montenegrian you guys did a good job with this video! But I must add few must see spots.Zabojsko lake, The Devils Lake(Vrazije jezero), Biogradska Gora, very popular and beatuiful places, especially in spring/autumn.Also, you forgot Ada Bojana witch is near the borded with Albania, after Ulcinj, also a great place to visit, as are some beaches that only locals know;) But anyway, thank you for the recognition :D

Hi, just wanted to say thank you :)
We (33m, 33f) visited Montenegro earlier this October 23 and followed most of your tipps.
We traveled with our own car (from germany) and wanted to share our itinerary based on your recommendation.
Day 1 - 5 Kotor: (Stayed right outside of the old town)
Day 1: Arrived at Kotor pretty late. Just grabed something to eat
Day 2: Lovcen National Parc, Kotor old town, Kotor Castle
Day 3: Boot trip (Lady of the rocks, Blue Cave, ...), Tivat, Perast
Day 4: Lipa Cave, Lake Skadar (Kayak)
Day 5: Sveti Stefan, Budva

Day 6 - 7 Prokletije: (Stayed near Gusinje)
Day 6: Gerla, The Eye, Ropojana (Since it hasn't rained in the last week it wasn't that great, because the eye was "empty")
Day 7: Your recommended hike (Volusnica) So beautiful :) (~6 hours)

Day 8 - 9: Durmitor: (Stayed in Zabljak)
Day 8: Tara Bridge, Zabljak
Day 9: Your recommended hike (Prutas) Also very beautiful, but much harder. (~4, 5 hours)

Thank you very much for your helpfull videos about Montenegro :)

Enjoyed the video! As a videographer I really appreciate how you made the video about the subject and not about yourself. Nice to watch. Thanks!
