Yup. Same here. A Reformed Baptist since the Lord saved me in 2010. All glory to God, for saving me and showing me His truth in the Scriptures. 🤍

This is the best explanation I've ever heard on Calvanism. I listened to this little block of instruction at least 50 times . It's absolutely sublime

It was in about 1800 that the first departed from the Reformed Theology. Protestant but no longer Biblical believers.
If the anti-Calvinist were right there would have been no Gospel for the last 1400 years and even not before that. Origin of men’s free will goes back to Pelagius about 400AD. And the heresy of the pope around 700 AD About 20 to 30 million people died by the hand of the Spanish Inquisition for not giving up their faith. The Queen of England at the time was Called Bloody Mary for her cruelty against the Calvinist, I rather say reformed because we don't follow a man. William Tyndale was burned at the stake for translating the Bible and being a Calvinist on 6 October 1536. Do you claim his faith he died for was a heresy????
It was from the Lord. Never lost is never saved, Christ Jesus did not come for choosers. Arminius was a Pelagian heretic. He twisted all of the Letter to the Romans. I have and read all Arminius works. For one he claims that God's plan of salvation came after the Fall in Paradise, otherwise God would be the Author of sin. Arminius had studied theology under Theodore Beza, Calvin's successor. Beza was one of the stronger proponents of the Reformed doctrine of predestination. But Arminius's theology represented a retreat from this position. In some ways, ARMINIUS'S THEOLOGY WAS ACTUALLY A RETURN TO THE POSITION TAKEN BY ROMAN CATHOLICISM AT THE COUNCIL OF TRENT. NATURALLY, ARMINIANISM STIRRED HEATED CONTROVERSY toward THE REFORMED CHURCHES. The reformation was a Miracle of the Lord equal to David Killing Goliath with a Stone. 95 teases written in Latin killed the Giant of the Pope’s false doctrine.
The American Great Awakening was a reformed puritans movement and the doing of the Lord. Millions came to accept Christ our Lord as there Savior. Claiming that that was the work of a deceiver is crossing a dangerous line. [I rather say Reformed, we do not follow a man. Calvin was just a small part of the reformation.
Edwards's earliest writings brought together John Locke and Isaac Newton in a defence of a religious metaphysics. Later, after a career as a practicing clergyman who led the ‘Great Awakening’, Edwards developed a Calvinist theology founded on the covenant of grace whose centre was the experience of an omnipotent God. His views were most significantly spelt out in Religious Affections (1746) and Freedom of the Will (1754).
JONATHAN EDWARDS ON THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD (CALVINISM)
"The Sovereignty of God is the stumbling block on which thousands fall and perish; and if we go contending with God about His sovereignty it will be our eternal ruin. It is absolutely necessary that we should submit to God as an absolute sovereign, and the sovereign of our souls; as one who may have mercy on whom He will have mercy and harden whom He will" (Jonathan Edwards).
The quote above, by Jonathan Edwards, is excerpted from Arminianism: Another Gospel -
Jonathan Edwards
Most historians consider Jonathan Edwards, a Northampton Anglican minister, one of the chief fathers of the Great Awakening.
Edwards’ message centred around the ideas that humans were sinners, God was an angry judge and individuals needed to ask for forgiveness. He also preached justification by faith alone.
In 1741, Edwards gave an emotional sermon, entitled “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” No-one in the church had dry eyes. It was not the gifted preacher because Edwards read most of the sermon. It was a strong conviction of the Holy Spirit. News of the message spread quickly throughout the colonies.
Edwards was known for his passion. He generally preached in his home parish, unlike other revival preachers who traveled throughout the colonies.
Edwards is credited for inspiring hundreds of conversions, which he documented in a book, Narratives of Surprising Conversions.
George Whitefield
George Whitefield, a minister from Britain, had a significant impact during the Great Awakening. Whitefield toured the colonies up and down the Atlantic coast, preaching his message. In one year, Whitefield covered 5, 000 miles in America and preached more than 350 times.
Martin Luther said this Gospel of “grace alone” will be for a moment but soon attacked by the Devil. We see so much hate against the sovereignty of God.
Daniel 4: 34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; 35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”

THIS IS HOW CALVIN PREACHED THE GOSPEL
FREE OFFER OF THE GOSPEL (Calvin's Wisdom p119-120)
He calls all men to himself, without a single exception, and gives Christ to all, that we may be illumined by him. When we pray, we ought, according to the rule of charity, to include all. God invites all indiscriminately to salvation through the Gospel, BUT THE INGRATITUDE OF THE WORLD IS THE REASON why this grace, which is equally offered to all, is enjoyed by few.
Other than the result of men’s refusal. Calvin never preached Double predestination as you can see and put the responsibility by men. Listen I say Preached. It is a Biblical Doctrine that God Choose or elected His Own and not the whole human race.
What about 70 Million Buddhists in Thailand. 93% in Thailand are Buddhists and 5.5% Islam. Why??? If God wants all men to be saved, did God fail to bring the gospel there so they could chose to be Christian or Buddhist? One born into Buddhism has no choice but Buddhism, Only the conviction by The Holy Spirit can change hearts.
There is a Reformation now in Brazil that always has been Catholic 220 Million population. Millions now are coming to faith in Christ and turn to the Reformation. What is ending here is beginning there. I made a website with 1000th of articles and sermons of Martin Luther in Dutch, English and German. From Brazil they have asked me to translate it in Portuguese and someone offered to help me doing it.

Pastor Joel. I appreciate you allowing dissenters to comment on your channel. Doing everything out in the open for all to see is why Israel loved David.
Unlike the rival of the Elect, those "chosen by God for salvation through Jesus Christ, " Leighton Flowers on Soteriology 101, who bans anyone with dissenting scriptures in opposition to the imaginary free will they preach, you don't have an echo chamber like them, and allow free discourse, even from the enemies of the Gospel of Grace and election.
That deserves respect. 👏

John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The first, and often only verse most people learn. In light of a verse as clear and basic as that, wouldn't it be better to preface your message with "some believe", "I personally believe" etc? Please don't preach as if you KNOW Calvinism is true, because you ABSOLUTELY 1000% do not. This is what's missing these days. Preachers with some humility that admit they don't know it all. Rather, you get too many of these types that just KNOW they have the correct interpretation.

If this Calvinism is true, it means that God creates disposable people, people without any hope, ” “It means that God not only allows, but micro-manages and sovereignly ordains, every war and every abortion and every rape of a child. It means that Calvin’s god does not love the world; he hates it because it is full of “totally depraved” individuals having apparently created us that way for his own glorification, or is it for his amusement? If Calvinism is true, it means that if that dying child that you held in your arms was not among the elect, then God did not love her. He never had any intention of loving her. She was nothing to Him. In fact, he would delight and find glory in her eternal torture in hell.”
Who are really created in the image of then, God or satan?

“And whenever I raise these points with Calvinists, all they can say is that I should be more grateful for my own salvation! It’s like, ‘as long as my eternal destiny is secure, as long as my life is all planned out and taken care of by God, who gives a damn about family, friends or anyone else!’ How can you be okay with that? How can anyone be okay with that? Why do I feel find this heresy morally offensive?” Only the devil should be at ease with such an abomination!

According to Calvinism the lost hate God because God first hated them. They won't say it that way, but that's what it boils down to.

Romans 16 : 17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

Truth in love THINK ABOUT, REALLY THINK ABOUT IT! IS THIS WHO GOD IS?

1 Timothy 2:3 This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse

Augustinian-Calvinism more properly described as Divine Unilateral Determinism was introduced by Augustine only in the last 18 years of his life (5th century) and went not only against his own earlier writings but against the writings of every other Christian author prior to or contemporary with him. Augustine learned this philosophy while spending 10 years of his life as a Manichaeian Gnostic and he allowed it to influence some of his later writings. As for Calvin he confessed he was devout student of Augustine and said "Augustine is so wholly within me that I could write my entire theology out of his writings". Calvin also quotes Augustine over 400 times in his Institutes, thus what we call Calvinism is in reality a specifically Augustinian doctrine.

Today's Calvinism is taught and believed by some Christians in despite of the fact that it was not introduced to the church until the 5th century and was not significant until the 16th century. It was supported up to that point primarily by two authors who were separated by nearly 1000 years, the second author simply following leading of the first and it continues to be a minority viewpoint among Christian believers (though it is widely circulated). More importantly its teaching require the re-defining of many clear and simple verses of Scripture (i.e. what does "All" mean? etc...) while also applying individual determinism to other passages that speak about the corporate election of those who accept Christ. Those who teach it often promote multiple false-dichotomies (i.e. saying non-Calvinist do not believe in predestination or in God's sovereignty. Also the falsely represented Synergism vs Monergism dichotomy), and it is circular or inconsistent in much of its logic (ex. A.W. Pink who in an attempt to remain logically consistent said God must not love the reprobate (despite current Reformed teaching)). In fact Calvinism is not just an alternate soteriological doctrine it is in fact a worldview in and of itself.

The Calvinism of today has become a social club of "elite" preachers, a popular clique that similar to liberalism has taken root in many seminaries spreading its teachings to a generation of young people. This is important because Calvinism must be taught to others to spread (hence the plethora of literature produced). Calvinism is a hermeneutic that you take TO the Bible not a teaching learned from it (at least not in its popular form). While I respect many men who call themselves Calvinist or Reformed I must emphatically disagree and disapprove of their Unilateral Deterministic worldview. I must do so up to the point that I found myself led to change the church I call home when it sacrificed its orthodox Christian soteriology for an ancient Gnostic view of the Scriptures.

I have no doubt of the sincerity and salvation of many in the Reformed faith but if Calvinism's deterministic worldview is in fact true then I will simply have to take comfort in the fact that God has predetermined me from the foundations of the world to not be a Calvinist.

The problem with Calvinism is that it equates Christ’s atonement alone as salvation. This is why they bend easy to understand scriptures to fit limited atonement. His atonement is for all mankind. But we are saved by HIS LIFE. The cross does not give us life. His resurrection makes that possible. If he be not raised our faith is in vain. He offers his life as a gift. The cross only cleared the way for this gift that must be received. It’s simple.

So if someone in your church believes they aren't elect would you tell them to leave?

Have you heard of the Primitive Baptist by chance? You might be a PB without knowing it.

Pastor Joel, a question I've wanted to ask is (because you're Baptist, does that mean you don't think infant baptism is legit and peodo communion isn't legit either?) Maybe you could do a show on this question. And if you get a family in your church whose children have been baptized and do take communion, do you discourage this?

John 3:16 is obviously a fantastic verse and is used by both sides of this argument as a proof text..anyone want to take a crack at 3:17?

John 3 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

What does the term "might be saved" mean if not "an opportunity". Might isnt a guarantee. Might .... THROUGH (believing in) HIM.

Im not particularly an expert on calvinism but God is the alpha and omega. It sounds like Calvinists put God inside of time when He is outside of time. Jesus was given before Adam was created. The tragedy of the crucifixion is the fact that he died for the sins of many who will still go to hell. I cry about this often thinking about the depths of my own sin. Romans 5 6-11

Correction: Jesus atoned for all sins, sickness and death itself. Jesus is the sacrifice for those that believe in him. The ones that do not will perish. Those are the ones that will go to hell. Otherwise you're saying that Gods sacrifice was not complete. Which isn't biblical.

Came from the video where you referred to yourself as a "reformed baptist" and made a distinction between yourself and John MacArthur, whom you referred to as "Calvinist". Now I'm confused by this video lol. Can you explain the differences again?

An excellent book on this topic is Gary D. Long's book, "Definite Atonement." It has got to be the best book on the subject that I have ever read.

Already caught a lie you told in the beginning of your video. You said there are some sins that Jesus did not atone for. The Bible says in the last days many will betray and walk away from the faith. You can't walk away from something unless you already in it and according to Calvinists you are the elect so if you are elected you can't walk away. Oh and I know that you'll try to use the scripture that they left us because they were not among us because if they were Among Us they would have remained with us. That's talking about the Jewish people who went back to practicing animal sacrifices into the Old Testament law instead of submitting to the New Covenant through Christ.
