"Tony and John, who were also responsible for founding Turbosound in the 1970s, are accredited with several generations of revolutionary loudspeaker designs including the TMS-3, Flashlight and Floodlight systems. They are widely known for their pioneering work and ethos which established many of the principles which subsequently became standard audio industry practice. Whilst often imitated their designs have not been surpassed and have been the first choice of many permanent and touring sound applications around the World.


Not to write more about F1 itself: listen what they have to say about it and the phenomenon of these great but not too widely popular speakers.

The only complaints I've read about Funktion One setups are comb filtering between multiple mid/high units. The only time I've heard them were as spaced out single units in a dance tent so I can't comment on this.

People should try a few hours behind a mixing deck with Newsham. It's an interesting experience.
Funny how everyone talks about how F1 is all about clubs ect. Considering Turbo was the no. 1 system back in the day it's pretty stupid.
Meyer Sound is lacking change and progess, so does JBL. Turbo has turned into just another rubbish Behringer product, like the Harmon Kardon crap that now is JBL ect. EAW just tears your ears apart with their harsh highs, and L'acoustics and Nexo, well do we really need to go there? If not F1, Db or Martin.

Nope....if you have a neutral Speakers, like Monitors, you can modify it in all directions. Funktion One is like that but stronger!!!

Neutral speakers are a myth!
Even studio monitors aren't completely neutral!

I am pretty sure none wants to hear a neutral sound at those soundpressure levels because it wouldn't pleasant at all!

i agree funktion one is a very gimmicky. i work with brands like Martin Audio, turbosound, EAW and Bose and i find each speaker brand performs different to each different style music where as funktion one claim their speakers perform well with all styles of music i think is a load of rubbish no speaker company can make a speaker that perfect all round
