I feel like flow hives wouldn't even designed by actual bee keepers. Just someone who saw honey prices and thought they'd take a crack at it.

I'm excited to see how the honey supers go for you, and how it compares to a more traditional extraction! I can't fathom it being worth it to trade out for bad grip, an awkward sliding latch/cover, no frame foundation, a plastic queen excluder, and so on.

Some simple handles from the hardware store should improve that without much inconviences but still of course valid critic

I'd be interested to see if the plastic frames of the flow hive produce more micro plastics in the honey than traditional frames.

The handles look like they were designed more for aesthetics than for practicality. I do like the look! But you do gotta put function first.

Have you waxed the new supers? Plastic has a smell in warm weather that bees are dissuaded from. It’s like antiseptic to them. It’s also hard to walk on for them. They avoid those surfaces like a fresh bee larva, which is also slippery.
Make sure you wax for fimiliarity, and footing, and the fact that bees walk around trying to finish half done hexagons, that’s bees. Funny you mention gripping :)

So the supers no longer require uncapping??? That sliding mechanism is enough to uncap AND pour out???

Also, maybe a funnel-type thingamajig to allow you to harvest each column together could be good...

The flow hives suck, while yes, they can allow you to harvest easy enough. You also end up killing bees that are working the the honey. Also, the honey takes a long time to drain out. I can spin out multiple medium boxes at the same time to drain 3 flow frames.
