That is 100% true. Kelle Rhoads told me that story YEARS ago. We been friends for a long time, and his former guitarist John "Gumby" Goodwin became one of my best friends. R.I.P. Randy n Kevin.

What an incredibly pressure cooker type moment! You’ve somehow gotten in the same room with Randy Rhodes and Dubrow and suddenly the jig is up- you don’t actually know how to play! I’ve truthfully had this actual nightmare several
times.🤯💪🏻🤘🏻

Sixx had the vision Mars was the heart! It's common knowledge that Sixx wasn't a good bass player in the beginning of his career but he was a great songwriter. Kevin Dubrow is keeping it real in this interview.

I miss Kevin! Great little interview there man! I saw Quiet Riot years ago and had a blast!!! As a bassist for 30 years and based on my experience Nikki SIxx isn’t technically the best bassist HOWEVER a killer songwriter and good solid bassist. I’ve learned a dozen of the Crue songs over the years and they are fun to play. Ten Seconds too love….Looks that Kill & my favorite “Live Wire” with the little bass solo in the middle of the song I really enjoy playing…..All those songs the bass is loud and prominent! I don’t think Kevin was putting Nikki down just stating his experience with the dude. As a fan could you imagine sitting in a jam room with Niki, Randy and Kevin? That would of been rad!

After not hearing Kevin talk for years..and just watching an episode of his brother's tv show, it is shocking how much alike they sound. Kevin sounds like an amped up versison of his brother, Terry, the surgeon.

Wow. Excellent. Some great recollections here. He never seemed like the guy that would end up as he did - lucid, energetic, intentional.

Nobody believed in Nikki as much as Nikki, and it worked out well for him. That should be a lesson for everyone - if you have a vision, don't let anything stand in the way of that vision and how you want your life to be.

I didn't hear one false statement in that whole piece.

It’s amazing these metal guys remember the intricate details of a miserable moment in their lives just to try and put someone in a certain light. Fascinating

Nikki sixx is a good bass player but an amazing song writer and great on stage as well. Love him

I play guitar and was asked by a friend to play bass in his hair metal group. I was amazed at how easy the bass was to play in Motley Crue, Ratt and Poison. It is pretty much two notes repeated over and over in the tempo of the song.

I've heard Nikki talking about being asked to audition for Quiet Riot on Hair Nation. He said he declined, then Randy quit to join Ozzy. Shortly after, Kevin had a band just called Dubrow. From there, he went back to using Quiet Riot. Nikki said he declined as he wanted to do his own music and it was Dubrow's show.

Great interviews, and I've listened to quite a few of them. Honestly, though, if I hear that intro music again I'm going to slit my wrist with a rusty nail.

Well, Tom Werman did confirm that Nikki was not a good bass player when he produced shout at the devil but said he became a good bass player by Girls, Girls, Girls.
