Oct. 18 -- American workers are dedicating more of their life to their jobs than their counterparts around the world. A new study finds that American's work more hours, retire later and take fewer vacation days than workers in other countries and put in nearly 25 percent more hours than Europeans. I wish we didnt... Im so sick of waking up at 4am, going to work until 4:30PM and then shower, eat, sleep at 8PM. I barely have 2 hrs to myself to do anything I need to do. I feel like its adding up, and without some sort of break in between, which I cant afford Im going to lose my mind.

26.1 hours? Who the F are these people? I have NEVER had a job in my 42 year career that was less than 50hrs a week and sometimes over 70 hrs on call.

My experience, at least in the pacific northwest is that most people do as little as possible while still collecting a paycheck. People may be working, but nothing is getting done.

I am Mexican American and I took my first vacation after 19 years of working. I work from 10-14 per day 6 days a week and 2-3 hours on Sundays. Why?? Simple; it’s expensive to live!

Wait -> working per week .... well I'm from Germany and okay school is not work but counting this in I work 40hrs a week ... and when I do go to work it is also 40hrs+ .... 8hrs a day 5 days a week and sometimes even on Saturdays .... most people I know work 40 hrs a week and there are very little exceptions ....
moreover it is very vague to make such a calculation including the retirement time because not all people retire at the same time and some even continue to work ...
.... apologies for my grammar and spelling mistakes ... I state all my arguments in this comment because Ironically I have to go to work and have therefore little time left

Hahaha...the role of labour unions...what labour unions? Only a tiny handful of job sectors/professions even have access to having a union, and Uncle Sam gave them a ton of $$ people who have no union option paid over I taxes, so...go figure there, and yes. Europe still has or has developed many retirement plans that do actually work, on time, not like here where it feels like it's a shot in the dark, even when you're putting $$ away.

The retirement system in europe is absolutely not strong. I am from the Netherlands and I will NOT provide from this way of retirement saving. Because everything that is saved is saved by a bigger group, in the future this group will reduce and everyone will have to work till the end because there is just not enough money for sharing retirement (This is called in dutch the AOW ( algemene ouderdomswet))

Studies go "unpublished" mainly because it couldn't/wouldn't pass critique. Even the graph they put up doesn't even pass high-school level muster: where is the z-axis/control variable? Based on that, even JAPAN might have a lower average citizen per work week than USA solely because their population has a disproportionate amount of seniors!

26.5 hours a week an average person in the usa. That's bs. I want my 40 hours and I'm happy with that tbh I don't mind 4 or 6 hours of ot in a week but if im going going to do ot I want to do it one day I get double pay so ot for me looks real nice on the paycheck.
I'm pretty sure most american with "real jobs" work 45+ a week on average I know I do.
