Slowly but surely, seems like Thiem's getting back to his previous level. The forehand currently appears to be his weakness, but that killer one-handed backhand is still there. Cilic is also no joke, so I'm pleasantly surprised their match went to 3 sets even though Domi just came up short in the end. He's one of my favorite players; I hope he can resurface again.

At this point, almost everything has returned for Thiem. Serve is back, backhand that we all know and love is back, physical level is back. The one thing I see missing is the forehand depth, but once he gets back, its back to 2020 ways. Just gotta hope he finds it before its too late and he's into his mid 30s

I think for Thiem it is a matter of time. He put the effort, got some rhythm and is physically there. Some things just need to click in my opinion and then he will again be a contender in 2023 and especially in the clay court season.

Thiem will be a threat again in 2023 if he keeps up the steady climb. Cilic was a tough opponent - AO 4th round, Roland Garros semi-finalist, US Open 4th round (stopped only by Alcaraz in 5 sets).
