The Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in the Outer Banks, is the site of the first engine powered flights in history, courtesy of the Wright Brothers, Wilbur and Orville Wright. The last time I was here was in 1970 when I was a kid. The Memorial consists of three areas: the field where the Wright Brothers made four successful flights, the Wright Brothers Monument where they would practice with wind powered gliders, and the Museum/Visitor Center which features an accurate replica of the Wright Flyer which was used on December 17, 1903. In this video, you're going to find the answers to a few questions about this Memorial, including why they chose this particular area to fly and the #1 question that I had-why were the first three flights so short but the fourth flight was so long?
