Lily, I think you may have humbled some of the knife reviewers out there. I appreciate modern exotic steels and even old exotic steel like my 16th century samurai sword, but you've shown us that you don't need a $400 bushcraft knife to survive and enjoy the woods. Great video!

Thats an epic compilation of footage, the amount of camera angles and shots is staggerering. The knife looks excellent, seldom see such a detailed review, I want one now!

One of the best "real world" knife reviews I have seen,

Last year, 2016, I heard a lot of my fellow reviewers constantly talking about how terrible AUS 8 and AUS 8A are. You video shows that this steel is not that bad. It can be a good choice for people who have a limited budget. Thank you for your long term review, Lilly.

I just bought one in SK-5 after being really impressed by the Bushman. I like the drop-forged Hunter, too, for smaller work.

Say what you will about Cold Steel - they make good knives for real world outdoors use.

Hi Lilly,
Hands down, the best knife review I've seen! I'm in Canada and camp in both the winter and summer season. I have a cutlery collection that I've put through similar paces and currently own two of the SRKs. Most knife reviews I've watched are citified, weekend warriors who think by spending a few minutes making a video in a city park counts as a review.
Your are a solid woman both figuratively and literally. You have a new fan!
Thank you for making the video.

I am impressed with the extensive footage that sent Into this review and the composition of the sound-image play. There is so much diversity in the tests!

This is by far my favorite episode. It teaches and shows your skills at the same time AND I liked the music too. Thank you.

great work Lily really ... impressive demonstration over time. Cold Steel should definitely compensate or sponsor you on something as in depth and time tested as this video. Thanks for showing Dax just seeing that guy made me happy :) Thanks for all of your great educational efforts !

@10:29Safety tip: Never carry around an open knife like this, particularly when trampling up or down a hill and through the woods. In most cases, hold it close to the body with the blade edge down and tip pointed sideways passed your belt buckle. However, when trampling in the woods like this, I have found the safest way to handle a knife, is inverted, like a ninja. This way if you fall, your hands naturally turn the blade and tip away from you and not towards your chest, neck or face.
While industry has its own safety regulations for how to handle a knife, I have never had anyone argue with me when I carry mine in reverse grip and parallel with my forearm. The vast majority of the time I don't think they even notice that I have a huge knife in my hand when doing so.
Glad you are still doing vids! Let's keep it that way.
Godspeed!

What a spellbinding video. I watched every moment and was continually thinking, back and forth, about what you were doing and saying and what I saw on the screen (and I miss Dax, as I am sure you do) and how GREAT a job you have done in putting this video together. You are the star of your own life. And you dont even try to do anything but to impart factual, honest information in an entertaining and interesting way.

Just wonderful.

You are an inspiration and I hope little girls all over the world take note of your videos to see an example of a different (better?) way than maybe they usually see demonstrated in their usual social circle.

Thanks and all the best to you.

:-D

This is very impressive. Thank you Lilly. I agree with you that the properties of AUS-8 steel are conducive to an excellent metal for knives.

“A Girl and Her Knife” – a love story by the Coen Brothers. Seriously, a fantastic review that is more than opinion, but shows real use over time.

Thank you so much for this video. I have quite a few knives but only a few in AUS8. I've got a SOG Seal Pup Elite, a CRKT Homefront, 2 Otanashi Noh Ken and 3 Hissatsu folders. The Hissatsu has been a favorite carry of mine although I don't use it for edc. I've been hearing a lot of negatives about AUS8 steel which sort of put me down since I love the Hissatsu so much. Watching your video, i can now rest easy. Thank you so much again.
