While both degrees are a postgraduate Masters qualification, they're designed for two opposite career paths. In terms of academic progression, an MPhil is above an MSc or MA. It's the highest level of Masters qualification that you can achieve, involving an even more substantial research project.

You have to check what the degree represents in education-years. Any program that has eligibility criteria as 16 years of education is fit for you. M.Phill is an older denomination now and is used primarily by some public universities, , most now use MS.

When doing your MS/MPhill you will have two options to complete a degree, one with coursework only and other with a dedicated research thesis. If you want to pursue a PhD from Pakistan than you will have to do a research thesis in MS.

I hope this helps. 2 year BS programs have already been phased out by HEC and i think by 2020 all applicants across the country will be streamlined hopefully.
