"Meta is now granting its users new freedom to post a wide array of derogatory remarks about races, nationalities, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and gender identities, training materials obtained by The Intercept reveal.

Examples of newly permissible speech on Facebook and Instagram highlighted in the training materials include:

“Immigrants are grubby, filthy pieces of shit.”

“Gays are freaks.”

“Look at that tranny (beneath photo of 17 year old girl).”"

YouTube needs to end censorship too, my previous profile I had for 5 years got banned like 2½ years ago. It's soo frustrating, even the most basic words will get my comment deleted. The list of words I can no longer use is astronomical, no matter how innocuous they are. 75% of my comments get deleted or hidden, it's ridiculous....

Unbiased opinion: Facebook is a private company. Private companies have broad discretion about free speech.

This is all insane. Even those still prohibited examples should all be allowed in a normal world.
At the same time it is a private business and as such they should be allowed to ban any speech they like.
Finally... given the immense power social media has over they public discourse maybe it should not be left completely to the whims of billionaires...

Facebook will still have to comply with the rules in Europe, ... it will be a total hassle for Meta now having to deal with different standards between Europe, ... and USA.
