Explainer: What is a 'sun halo' and how are they formed?

A halo is an optical phenomenon produced by light (typically from the Sun or Moon) interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. Halos can have many forms, ranging from colored or white rings to arcs and spots in the sky.

The ice crystals responsible for halos are typically suspended in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds in the upper troposphere (5–10 km (3.1–6.2 mi)), but in cold weather they can also float near the ground, in which case they are referred to as diamond dust.

We had it in iceland. However, there were 2 halos around the sun, and against the second one was a half rainbow.

Cirrus halos can form everywhere in the World in any month, despite being more common at higher latitudes where high-level atmosphere is colder, easier to make ice crystals.

And there are also wintry halos, which are created by ice crystals in the low atmosphere, such as diamond dust (ice crystals precipitation with clear skies), ice fog or blowing snow. They occur sometimes in the Northern Plains and are very common at polar regions or medium latitudes mountain ranges

Nah we had this in South Africa a while back like 2005 it lasted 3 days we had blue skies and at night it was still visible

A few days ago I was looking at the weather and it showed nothing but sunshine.☀️🌞☀️So, on Saturday October 21st 2023, I looked at the weather again, and it showed cloudy skies.🤔 No, this can’t be! I opened the back door and looked out, and it was sunny and blue skies. And, about 30 minutes later, we left the house, headed to Lackland Air Force Base. Now, as we head down the road, I look up and I see these planes all over the sky, back-and-forth they were spraying out these so-called “condensation trails.” Condensation trails evaporates rather quickly! Not these trails, these trails will grow and grow and expand out, some of them feather out. So, throughout the day, I kept watching them, and these trails were getting wider and wider.

After a few hours had gone by, I noticed there was no sunshine or blue skies. And yet, they’re still up there spraying. The skies were pitiful looking all day. Later the big halo around the sun could be seen.

I have been watching the skies for many years, and I have taken many photos overtime, just like thousands & thousands of other people who have.

Though this sun halo may look pretty cool and wild for some, it is NOT a grand spiritual phenomenon ! There is nothing spiritual about it. There are chemtrails, and then there are condensation trails. There is a difference.👍🏻👌🏻
