CMRA, Hallett OK, 5/20/12, Formula 1 Novice

CMRA, Hallett Oklahoma, Formula 1 Novice, 4th place finish
My first time at this track, racing Sunday, practiced on Friday
About 90 minutes before this race, there had been some pretty significant rain. The track was just now about dried out, but of course lost a lot of heat, and the remaining cloud cover did not help.
At the end of Lap 4 (of 8 total), can see one of my favorite guys to compete against, up ahead, and am catching him. Just before the end of Lap 7, I get past him, but then totally screw up and left a big door open for him at Turn 3 (the hill is Turn 2, technically in CMRA). Then he really picks it up (1:24.307 on his last lap), and I cannot get past. The last 4 laps, were almost the identical Time every time around for me... Great race Bobby!

(was able to get down to 4 consistent laps of 1:24.5 in the next race, but didn't get it on film...)
2006 Honda CBR1000RR, sprockets changed out, Ohlins rear shock, Dunlop UK NTEC slicks, but otherwise mostly stock.

It is a really fun track, definitely recommend a visit, even considering the 6 hour drive from Dallas...
Yes, did the Friday practice, only got 5 sessions in though; make sure you bring your own gas to the site!

Ha, you sand-bagger! ;) My laps were feeling really good, but I was unsure how I was catching you so readily over those last three laps; seeing your lap times, now I know how. You were just cruising for those laps, I had to get up there, and make you work for that Third Place. It was a lot of fun. I know better now, for going into that Turn again! Don't sell yourself short, that 600 of yours, you make it move quite well!!! Am glad that you'll get moved up to Expert next year (I expect)! ;)

Good racing!!! Good run Greg! Man that looks like fun! How did you like the track? Did you ride it in the dry Friday? Lines seem pretty smooth for just learning the place. Bike looks like it is working good! Fast and it holds a tight line.
