COVID-19 UPDATE Friday, 15 October – English Script
This is a Deaf Services and the Deaf Society Auslan COVID-19 update for Friday, 15 October 2021.
QLD
QLD recorded no new cases today
71% of people have had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
54% of people have had their second dose
An interstate truck driver with COVID was in the community for one day but there are no concerns as there was limited exposure.
This weekend, select Bunnings stores across the state are hosting pop-up vaccination clinics. No appointment required. Visit the link in the description for locations.
NSW
New South Wales has recorded 399 new cases in the last 24 hours and sadly 4 new deaths
91% of NSW have had their first dose
77% are fully vaccinated
The NSW Government has announced all quarantine requirements for fully-vaccinated international arrivals into the state will end from 1 November. This includes both hotel and home quarantine.
Overseas arrivals who are not fully vaccinated will still be required to undergo 14 days hotel quarantine.
Regional travel in NSW has been deferred until 1 November due to lower vaccinations rates in regional communities.
The Premier said NSW is expected to hit the 80% double dose milestone in the next few days, meaning that from Monday:
home visitations will increase from 10 to 20.
Outdoor gatherings will increase from 30 to 50.
No requirements to be seated whilst drinking indoors
There will be no attendance limits on weddings and funerals.
The NSW Government also responded to backlash from the community over Auslan interpreters missing from recent press conferences about the easing of restrictions.
The Government says they plan to have interpreters at only some media events, but NSW Health will continue to request an interpreter at any press conference where the Chief Health Officer or Deputy is providing a public health update.
