SignalR is an asynchronous signaling library for ASP.NET. It's designed to help you build real-time web applications without a lot of hassle. In the past, developers would have to wire up "real-time" applications as a series of polls to a webserver, waiting for it to receive data back that was useful. This approach usually cost more in bandwidth than we wanted it to. SignalR simplifies this process, and makes it more useful for the ASP.NET developer. As platforms improve, SignalR can also seamlessly transitions over to Websocket.

Wow.  Kevin, thank you so much!  I know this is a year and a half old, but this has given me a bit of ease with regard to SignalR.  I'm a simple ASP.NET/c# developer (mostly in web forms) and I've been interested in SignalR both for work (a live help app) and for fun (an online card game I'm building).

Kevin. I am having problem running this on IE then. Sending message to the server side is having a problem: error 500. Including json2 does not work too. Are there any work around for this? Solution please.

1. Quality of video is SO POOR, can barely see/ready anything
2. Not sure why Microsoft does not take some extra effort to see if their video quality is even worth for somebody to spend their time here
3. If Microsoft can also provide URL for Channel9 for the same video that would be appreciated, hope the video quality is worth there
