Watching on my OnePlus 5. I love it and I'm glad I broke my relationship with my Galaxy devices. Had each one since the S2 and hated each new one but this phone finally does everything that I find important and for a much better price. Best decision I've made in a long time.

I agree with your conclusion: Galaxy S8 > OnePlus 5, however, I would still buy the OnePlus 5 over the S8. I have owned so many Samsung devices (new and old) and I continue to see that Samsung make great demo devices i.e. they are absolutely incredible at first and for the first two months or so you are very happy with your decision (they make a fantastic first impression), however, satisfaction levels start to decline quite quickly after the first 6 months of ownership, as the honeymoon period wears off and you start to notice little slowdowns and dropped frames, and the Samsung duplicates of Google apps start to make less and less sense (why not just use the Google's apps?). Then, what a lot of folks do is install additional apps, launchers and icon packs to mask the fact that it is running Samsung software. I even got to the point where I installed BK Disabler to disable a ton of Samsung "value added services" and apps because I simply do not need them.

Honestly, phones this year have been just amazing! Like, right now some amazing ones off the top of my head are LG G6, Oneplus 5, Huawei P10, HTC U11, and Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. Its really nice that there is some great competition going on right now as it helps the industry grow.

One Plus is not a small company. Please stop making excuses for them, as well as essentially doing free marketing for a company that is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics (one of the largest phone manufacturers on the planet).

The one plus 5 does have some amount of waterproofing, it just wasnt announced like with the iphone 6s
