Many ancient astronaut theorists believe a nuclear war happened in India more than 10,000 years ago and say the ancient Indian epic poem the Mahabharata contains an accurate description of radiation poisoning from nuclear fallout. Is this the case? Skeptical xenoarchaeologist Jason Colavito investigates the case of the fake fallout quote.

"The corpses were so burned as to be
unrecognizable. Their hair and nails fell out,
pottery broke without any apparent cause,
and the birds turned white. mahabharata

"A single projectile charged with all the power
in the Universe...An incandescent column of
smoke and flame as bright as 10, 000 suns, rose
in all its splendor...it was an unknown
weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic
messenger of death which reduced to ashes an entire race. mahabharata

.it was an unknown weapon,
An iron thunderbolt,
A gigantic messenger of death,
Which reduced to ashes
The entire race of the Vrishnis and the
Andhakas. ...The corpses were so burned
As to be unrecognisable.
The hair and nails fell out;
Pottery broke without apparent cause,
And the birds turned white. mahabharata

After a few hours
All foodstuffs were infected...
...to escape from this fire
The soldiers threw themselves in streams
To wash themselves and their equipment.mahabharata

...a single projectile
Charged with all the power of the Universe.
An incandescent column of smoke and flame
As bright as the thousand suns
Rose in all its splendour...
a perpendicular explosion with its billowing smoke clouds...
...the cloud of smoke
rising after its first explosion
formed into expanding round circles
like the opening of giant parasols...mahabharata

Mohenjo Daro was a large and prosperous city. It was not built in a radiation zone, and its people did not suddenly die off.

The verses you cite are, as I explained in the video, not in the Mahabharata but rather were pieced together from mis-translated passages in the Mahabharata. This particular segment is the most badly mis-translated.

The problem with a fully open mind is that people try to put trash in it.

As I explained in the video and on my website, the verses "exist, " but have been mistranslated and re-arranged to say something that the original does not. On my website, I lay out step by step how the origina verses were systematically altered. The radiation you mention is due to naturally-occurring uranium ore, as has been reported in academic literature for the last half century.

Actually the Gods gave many weapons to both the Pandavas and Kouravas. One particular weapon given was called the Bramshastra and it could only be used once and its effects are described identical to a nuclear bomb and the after effects. Doesn't mean it was a atomic bomb but it does sound like one.

Even if Mahabharat was a nuclear war How were nukes made?where they used to get weapon grade plutonium?.And how in a society there can be such inequality that in a war many are fighting with swords and some possess nuclear weapons? And how this technology was lost?If it was lost due to 18 days war happenining in just one part called kurushetra than i seriously doubt our ancestors common sense.First and Second world war did lead to world to primitive stage.

We have the same source as I have noted now. The quote you have used is the aftermath of the destruction caused by the iron bolt of samva. It leads upto the 36 years post dissaster when Gandhari's curse would come to pass. Just pointing out interpretation difference. We can always agree to disagree.

The Mahabharata took place only a little more than 5, 000 years ago, not 10, 000 years.
It was at the end of the previous yuga.
