Power in tech: Avanade is proud to sponsor UK Black Pride 2022
While the tech industry has increased its inclusion of some groups, there is still plenty of room for progress.
In the UK, only 2.6% of tech leadership positions are held by ethnic minorities. While a survey of LGBTQ+ people who had left the tech industry, revealed 81% had experienced some form of unfairness in their previous workplace.
This is something Avanade wants to change as we believe that diversity is a driving force for innovation in the tech industry. For us, diversity and inclusion are not limited to one group of people or one challenge, it should be for all people and all phases of life.
Avanade supports UK Black Pride 2022
This year, Avanade is proud to be a part of UK Black Pride, Europe’s longest-held and largest community-led celebration of LGBTQ+ people from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Latin America.
The UK Black Pride festival is an inclusive event that offers a safe, unified space for queer, trans and intersex people of color (QTIPOC) and the Black LGBTQ+ community – with the last in-person event welcoming over 10,000 people.
As sponsors of the event, we’ll be helping to create a space for this community to celebrate, protest and enact change, and embody this years’ theme: Power.
Working together: opportunities at Avanade
In the UK, more than a third of LGBTQ+ staff (35%) have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination, with Stonewall research also finding that one in eight Black, Asian and minority ethic LGBTQ+ employees have lost a job in the last year, because of their identity. At Avanade, we want everyone to feel safe to be their authentic selves at work and to be welcomed and valued for their individuality. Beyond Multicultural, our UKI employee network and Prism, our LGBTQ+ employee group provide these communities with the voice and visibility they deserve in our business.
We celebrate diversity. Avanade is a place where every individual can harness their unique perspectives. We have many opportunities available for anyone looking progress on their career path, and we welcome applications from Black, indigenous and people of color in the LGBTQ+ community who are celebrating UK Black Pride.
