I’m slightly bothered by Thanos somehow having all the other stones at this time (I mean Asgard seemed fine but he got the space stone), but in the end the joke of Thanos nonchalantly getting cut in half made if worth it for me.

I didn't expect this level of fourth wall-breaking. Neither did I expect the Watcher of all people to have a character arc. That episode was really special.

Comic-wise the infinity stones shouldn't work when you enter another universe, just like in the TVA. This is to stop someone from just multiverse-hopping and collecting 1000 infinity stones, which this Ultron can seemingly do now since infinity stones work regardless of the universe.

SPEAKING OF EPISODES WITH SURPRISING ELEMENTS! I mean, yeah. That's all I got. My face was in a constant state of "sudden surprise" and I loved it. Was expecting another "What If the MCU had another world ending event that the Avengers couldn't prevent" and got more than that, so I'm good!

Thanos: "I am inevitable!" Ultron: "Negative." 😆🤣😆

I really, REALLY wish we’d gotten James Spader back. And, y’know, that Ultron was written like himself. I know a lot of people find his sense of humor in the movie obnoxious, but I’ve always argued that without that personality, and without Spader’s snide, scattered, angry performance, that Ultron would be a pretty boring character.
With the exception of like one line, I feel proven right by this episode.

Great review!

Personally, I really enjoyed this episode. While I agree that you could easily see Ultron being able to see Uatu coming a mile away, it was still a good moment when it actually happened.

Lots of "OH CRAP!" moments in this episode, which made it all the more fun for me :)

Fun fact: the voice actor for Ultron is the same person, Ross Marguand, who was Red Skull in Infinity War/Endgame. I found that interesting.

One thing that slightly confused me though was the ending of last week and how it fits into this episode. As far as I know, I couldn't see any moment where it fit within this one. Any ideas?

Keep up the great videos :)

I thought the positive commentating worked in that instance. It kind of showed how desperate things are since this was the first time a high powered being entered his sanctum. Since he didn't want to break his oath of non interference, the cheering made sense.

7:30 I kinda love the scene, it's like a renaissance painting of an angel coming down to smite a horde of demons or something, makes for a cool desktop background

I agree with absolutely everything you said (actually it kinda blew my mind cause while you were talking i was thinking exactly the same). As you said, it was an "okay" episode, with some great and beautiful scenes as the Barton's sacrifice and the core-planet fight between Captains Marvel and Ultron. There's one thing (that you mentioned in the review too) that annoyed me the most, and its the characterisation of The Watcher. Yeah sure, it's an unexpected situation for him, but his character almost changes entirely. Another thing that crossed my mind is: where are the other watchers? For what we know, there are more of their kind (they cameo in guardians of the Galaxy vol.2). Maybe he is the watcher for one sector of the multiverse, and the others aren't there at the time; but who knows.
Anyway, great review! Love your content, from Argentina 🧡

I wonder if we will see Jeffery Wright as The Watcher in a movie. His actual voice performance has really impressed me throughout this series.

Even though I saw that this episode was pretty much predicted by several people, I still enjoyed it. I was surprised at moments. And I thought the art was really great in a lot of scenes.

Watching this after the Party Thor and yeah...those earrings are amazing. There seemed to be a lot of suspension of disbelief needed to enjoy this episode the most. I admit I haven't watched any of it only breakdowns by you and Emergency Awesome. He fills in some of the lore but you nigh stream of consciousness way of discussing it is delightful. Like listening to a nerdy friend gush about their fandom. Lol

On the Watcher's character flip, I think it would be the same as if David Attenborough were narrating out in the wild and then a tiger suddenly picked him for a meal. He would break character pretty quick too.

The way I see Uatu's characterization is that before, almost no one could observe him and no one could touch him, but now he's vulnerable - a position and a feeling he's never experienced before. His whole existence has been turned on its head.

P.S. I LOVE THAT SHIRT!!!

Okay, so Ultravision *wasn't* just a cute button on the end of last week's episode that wasn't going to appear again. Shows what I know...

Actually ignorance was definitely my friend on this one. I really enjoyed it, a little bit I feel due to it hitting the right notes for me to just go with the flow and not think it through too much, but also I didn't know we were that close to the end of the season, and thus didn't guess Ultron was being set up as the villain for the finale - I wasn't sure if we were going to see the Watcher pull out a win, or Ultron was just going to prevail and it'd be a 'Bad Guy Wins, The End' episode (without it necessarily spilling over into the rest of the multiverse), so I wasn't out ahead of the plot. Definitely felt the absence of James Spader, but even so I had a great time just seeing Ultron get his due as a baddie, after not really amounting to much (besides a great voice) in his movie (at least he had a legitimate 'age' this time, rather than the Couple Of Days of Ultron). I even liked the multifight - just a special effects show, sure, but I felt like the (you know, the fancy sci-fi sounds) were a cut above average, and that's something that always gets a good reaction from me. So I guess it was kind of a junk food episode ultimately, but due to random circumstances it found me in the mood for junk food, and really hit the spot.

Wow, this makes me excited for the Multiverse Avengers team at the season finale. Which makes me wonder, is Episode 9 going to introduced Queen Gamora (or Thanos Gamora), or episode 9 will be part 1 of the season finale.
