A look inside episode 1 of Game of Thrones Season 2

Game of Thrones is an original HBO series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling novels. In a world where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime, the crown of Westeros comes with a price. Betrayal, lust, intrigue and supernatural forces shake the four corners of the Kingdom, from the scheming south and the savage eastern lands, to the frozen north and the ancient Wall that protects the realm from the darkness beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and noble men vie for power in the bloody struggle for the Iron Throne.

A lot of the beloved interactions in season 1 was made because they needed to fill the episodes, but had no money to make more, significant scenes. Its cool, I think.

I love how the show's CGI effect are better looking than those we sometimes see in actual movies.

I liked almost all the added scenes from season 1. Jame and Tywin Lannister's conversation while Tywin skinned that stag. Robbert and Cersei's conversation about their relationship, which is told throughout SoS and FFC but just in snips, was great and well placed. As far as the 100% dialog, I don't know, it's hard to rewrite perfection and not come off sounding a bit lackluster.
I think that season 2 opened nicely, the scene of taking Roberts bastards especially, and have high hopes.

Alot of the scenes they added are inspired by conversations in the book. Since they are not limited by the view point structure they now can explore characters like Littlefinger and Varys even more than Martin could, especially in the early books. Putting the show on TV instead of just multiple movies was the only way this could succeed. And putting in on HBO makes it even better because they don't have the restrictions of politically correct / "pussy" network channels. Its a triumph...

I loved seeing Grey Wind! He got so big! And Carice van Houten is beautiful, she portrayed Melissandre very well!

Yeah! Of course! I am thanking these two dudes for bringing it to millions of other people outside of the books!

And it's not said that they're left out. Robb's yet to reach Riverrun. I really missed the Blackfish at the Eyrie and I hope he will be there in season 2. But they can't cut him out totally because at some time (I try my best to avoid spoilers) he will be needed. To put in some other commander would just get out of touch with the books and they've never done that and I hope they never will.

I'm an atheist but my being raised in a predominantly christian based environment may have biased me towards seeing christian-esque imagery in settings like those of epic fantasy as the neutral or even good default for anything that somehow resembles western medieval cultures. All this D&Desque paladin of light paraphernalia... but it's so awesome that for once we get to make the connection between the more "accepted" mode of "civilization" with a politheistic religion to then see a clearly christian inspired cult as very alien and scary. It works so well.

I wish they kept Mormont's raven in the series. The only thing I'm disappointed about in this series. Corn... =(

No Stanis did not reject his old religion for a new one, he's not a believer in either of them. He see Melissandra as a useful tool

S2 Ep1 was a bit slow, considering I waited so long with such anticipation...was expecting more of a bang opening for Season2 and maybe even a different new opening. But it was awesome to see Dany and her dragon again. My favorite part of S2 Ep1: The North Remembers was when Cersi humiliated LittleFinger, when she says "No, I've changed my mind", it was awesome to see LittleFinger's face after the guards released him and Cersi walked away...he had the look of a man who's had his ass handed 2him
