Introduction to Digitization

One way to connect with your constituents when they can't visit your institutions is through your collections. How do you get started in the process of digitization? Before you can provide access to collection materials, you must first create a plan for digitization. This webinar will focus on the first steps an institution should take, including: prioritization of collections, metadata and digital file specifications, equipment selection, ongoing file management, digitizing materials for quick online access on a shoestring budget, strategies for funding more complex digitization projects, and caring for digital collections long-term.
