DA Fani Willis can stay on Trump case if Nathan Wade leaves, judge rules

A Georgia judge ruled Friday that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should not be disqualified from prosecuting the racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and several co-defendants — with one major condition.

In my opinion from having been a police officer 25 years and having helped prosecutors prepare hundreds of cases for court, it is JUDGE MCAFEE that is unprofessional. He did everything backwards. He should have made the defendants show they could prove their allegations BEFORE he had an open hearing. Judge McAfee let a routine challenge that ALL criminal defendants are want to present on the motives of a prosecutor turn into a circus. He allowed them to do everything but examine DA Willis' panties for Nathan Wade's DNA.

Now, much like Special Prosecutor Hur, he injected unnecessary language and opinion into his decision that has unnecessarily created a political firestorm around a judicial proceeding. In order to protect the integrity of that proceeding, he should NOT have put his political opinions in writing.

I believe that after the trial is over DA would be within her rights to petition to have Judge McAfee reprimanded by whatever judge or panel supervises the professional conduct of judges for Fulton County.

No surprise, no way a judge could fire her just for political reasons alone. The pressure that man faced I could not even imagine.

Let's not sugar coat it: The judge has allowed the defense to completely kneecap the prosecution based on nonsense. Removing and replacing the lead prosecutor in the middle of a case is a HUGE burden on the prosecution. Now, they have to find someone new and bring them up to speed fast. The motion brought by the defense was entirely frivolous and should never have been entertained.
