Don’t pick anything to get done. Resolutions are not about getting anything done. They are about doing. Pick what you want to be DOING a year from now and start DOING it. The product doesn’t matter, it is the process and making your process what you want it to be. Stop “donning” and start doing.

the thing to remember is the reason a year can change your life is because there’s so much time in a single year. you don’t have to overcrowd every day, you can take days off and you can skip up or fall backwards but it doesn’t matter because a year is plenty of time. don’t let yourself feel like you “aren’t where you need to be” because you’ll get there sooner than you think.

"A year from now you may wish you had started today" has been my motto for quite some years now. Don't overthink your plans, stop procrastinating, start now and figure it out on the way!

2023 broke me as an artist, my dog died at the age of 5, writers strike functionally lost me my job at a small studio, and for the first time, I had to put everything on pause to stop the burnout. But I also finally started animating for myself, and not needing 12 weeks of classes to find quality in myself. 2023 was the breakdown year, but I’m gonna build myself back up even better in 2024

I'm going to give 2024 my all. Hopefully this will be the year that I can FINALLY monetize my YouTube channel and make that jump to being a full time artist and YouTuber. I'm going to be moving to a new country next year, so at least I have something big to look forward to. I can't wait to see what's in store and all the things I'll create! I have a very good feeling.
Wishing everyone an amazing 2024! ❤

A huge problem with implementing your goals (/new years resolutions) is that one only pays attention to the goal, but not the way to get there.
If you want to reach something, you have to think about what steps will get you there first.
(so: "I want to get to 10k followers" is great and all, but there's no real action in it- you also can't influence how many people follow you etc. A better goal is, as Kelsey said/ did: "I will post 1 piece of content each week for the year". The more precice you get in planning your steps, the easier it is to implement.)

I spent all of 2023 battling an uphill depression, cutting my ties with my 4 stringed friend, watching windows close, but grinding out my drawing skills. I managed to regain my middle school abilities where I can draw what I watch all while slowly understanding what I draw. Never did I think I would achieve my current level. I thought I burnt it all away back when I put down the pencil for music. Here I am now turning old dreams into new dream and turning new dreams into old dreams if that makes sense. 2024 will be the year I regain my highschool drawing abilities where I was finally able to freestyle what popped into my head onto paper. I'm 30 now. I'm not happy, but I'm not sad.

I just uninstalled all social media from my phone (Youtube included) and I'm only using social media on my computer, so I avoid scrolling in the night and starting the day with scrolling. It's been a week but I feel better. I hope 2024 is a better year for everyone. Even if it's just slightly better. :D

The difficult part is staying committed past the 3 months (or even 1 month, if I'm being honest), or even when you feel sluggish & depressed & down on yourself. I like your suggestion of starting small with just 1 habit.

Picking a single goal increases your chance of sticking to it a lot, but if you can't choose just one, what worked for me before was dividing the year into sections. For example, in 2019 two of my goals were working out consistently and eating healthier. The first three months of the year, I pretty much had a single goal, just working out consistently. Just show up to the gym even if I don't have time and/or energy for a hardcore workout. Sometimes I'd just go and do some light cardio and call it a day. After three months, it pretty much stopped being a challenge and became a part of my daily routine. Then I started eating healthier, I just focused on that for a few months.

It's kind of "the best of both worlds", you can tackle a few goals instead of just one, but you'll only have the pressure of a single goal on you at a given time. And knowing you stuck to your first goal motivates you even more for the second one. You know you just did it, so you can do it again.

I'm honestly not one for "self help" content, but I saw a video of yours a while ago that popped up in my feed about the hate comments you were getting (didn't realise it was an art channel until after I started watching) and at the time I was dealing with a lot of self esteam issues revolving what covid did and not being able to exercise in gyms did to my physically and it really struck a cord. Since then I have been a faithful subscriber and look forward to your videos. I love seeing my fellow Hispanics making their mark on the art world and I hope your career keeps growing on here!

What you say about not waiting for new years eve to make changes is so true! Since christmas I finally had the drive and resolve to do one of the things I've been meaning to do for a looong time; exercise every day. A walk outside, some weights, heavy garden work, anything, just show up. And when I felt that determination making that decision, I could feel how it become easier to do even with just a few days in, because now I have confidence I'll keep my word.

It's just one choice, but it's very big for me and hopefully it'll bring me more energy to make art!

I actually did start doing something that could be life changing for me; working on my graphic novel. I’ve had the idea in mind since 2017, but didn’t start writing the manuscript for it until last year. I’m hoping to publish it before I turn 40 (I’m 34 right now).

I also really want to try getting back into doing YouTube again too. But I’m gonna work hard to build a following first. Thank you so much for this video! It was very motivating. ❤😊

Iv been trying for a while to just keep up the momentum in my head and I think this year it has finally clicked. I have been doing things I am not usually comfortable putting up time-lapse vids with me actually on the camera too. I am testing myself with things and the more I do it the more I want to do. I have the feeling I will leap forward this year with something big. I am starting to actually look around me and realise that I am so much better then what I have been living. Il be a lot more DOING and not just THINKING.

I’m trying really hard to fully commit to becoming a full time artist this year. I’ve been suffering from chronic fatigue working a food job for… 7 years of my life and I graduated last year with my Bachelors in illustration. I’m tired of having to work for someone else and I want to create and inspire others to create too.

I’ve been good at drawing almost every day this year so far, even though I’ve had a rocky start (I got bronchitis, my car battery died, etc etc) I’m so determined to finally make the transition to being an artist full time and finally having my own shop

Past two days I’ve been working to try and get my life on the right track. 2023 was a horrid year for me. Depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, an eating disorder, agoraphobia, trauma, and having to work through my relationships when they worried about me because of these issues. I want to do better. I want to feel better. So I’m working to get better right now, and I really hope it pays off in the end. 2023 kicked my ass but I’m going make 2024 kiss my ass!! This year will be better, I promise myself that. 💙
