Here's some trivia: the "Due to the unique way the BBC is funded" gag wasn't first said by Clarkson or anyone who presented the Top Gear reboot - it was actually first said by Tiff Needell at the end of Old Top Gear's Series 43 Episode 18 (25th May 2000).


Tiff, Vicki, Quentin and Kate expected to go back home in a helicopter (as in the beginning of the episode they arrived in a private jet), but due to the unique way the BBC is funded, they were going back home on the "fastest growing transport in the UK" - a Piaggio scooter.
