Rían here. Thanks for watching! Ever wanted to use time itself to effortlessly build peak performance habits? Turns out, there's a science-backed way to do just that. It's all about leveraging "temporal hinges" to trigger your most important behaviors.

With the science-backed techniques in this PDF, you can strategically use hinges to exceed a month’s worth of work in less than a day.

Waking up early in winter is the second hardest thing in the morning.

I have done this earlier in my life. I had my whole week planned with timers, with small instructions. Living became easy. I got into shape and i held super focused. I recommend creating your own version of this.

Here is a summary of the key points from the video:

1. We often struggle with consistent execution of our high-performance habits despite knowing what we need to do.

2. Identifying a "domino habit" - one habit that autocorrects other behaviors - is key.

3. Research shows "temporal landmarks" like Mondays or birthdays produce a fresh start effect.

4. Adopting intraday temporal landmarks every 24 hours creates a continuous fresh start.

5. Map out temporal landmarks leading up to your domino habit and set alarms for each.

6. These alarms act as "hinges" prompting you to shift behaviors to stay on track.

7. This reduces cognitive load, simplifies decisions, and outsources time management.

8. Implement this in 3 steps:
* Identify your domino habit
* Reverse engineer temporal landmarks needed to achieve it
* Set alarms/hinges for each temporal landmark

9. Turn with each hinge to stay aligned. If you miss one, turn with the next.

10. Following the hinges leads to hitting the domino habit which autocorrects your day.

I would take this a step further for me. I use different types of music for different tasks. I would pair those alarms to that music. Hearing the music that pairs with that activity would help trigger the switch in my brain making it easier to transition between each tasks. Having the same alarm sound still adds a cognitive load at the beginning to figure out what the alarm is the transition. Pairing music starts that transition in my brain immediately. Though I pre conditioned myself to music after discovering how certain music impacts my energy and focus levels. I don’t use the same music to clean as a do when I am working at my desk or working out.

This is pretty difficult to maintain if you don't have a "9-5" type job. Medical, Restaurant and Retail workers might struggle a bit with being consistent with the temporal scheduling when everyday has different temporal demands.

These are things we actually learned in High School known as school bells with a class schedule. It worked then and it should work now.

For Muslims, a method that works excellently and has been used for centuries is dividing your day according to the 5 daily prayers.
Fajr (dawn prayer)
Duhr (afternoon)
Asr (evening)
Maghrib (sunset)
Ishaa (night prayer)

Place your tasks around these five times.
And bonus if you live in a country where Athan (call to prayer) is heard, that’s basically your alarms set for you already! ❤

I often see general advices in productivity videos, but this is real stuff. Every time I stick to a domino habit, get consistent and split my day, I was the most happy with my life and accomplishments

Here goes mine, in case it serves anybody some utility. I have highlighted the landmarks in bold where I do have an alarm, as there are some landmarks that just fall naturally, like the time I end lunch or dinner

*05.00* Wake up
05.45 Go to the gym --> workout --> back from the gym
*07.45* Get ready for work: cold shower plus prepare anything that I might need
08.00 Work: 3 breaks that separate my work day in 4 parts.. 15' // 1h (lunch) // 15'
*17.00* Stop working --> break for 30'... do nothing!
*17.30* Personal projects
*19.30* Cook + eat dinner
20.30 Read a book
*21.30* Prepare sleep (brush teeth, prepare the bag for next day, etc.) + Meditation
*21.50* Sleep

DUDE!!!! I was onto this without realizing what I was doing. This EXPLAINS IT!! However, your version is INTENTIONAL and consistent. Mine was a happy accident and it stayed that way, an inconsistent hack I would deploy on the days I motivated myself to fix things when I slacked off, but when I slacked off, I would slide. I even set alarms to remind me to drink more water. I set alarms for 15 minutes before meetings because I would get so into the flow I would lose track of time and I needed that 15 minutes to wrap up and transition. What was missing for me was realizing that this was a strategy that should go across M-F of my week so that I would not just do it when I decided to have a good day, to DECIDING to have a good day, every day. This is game changer for me. I will deconstruct my prior 24 hours to ensure I hit my domino habit. Thanks, Bunches!

I avoided this video because I hate alarms because waking up to them sucks but this is spot on! I use calendar instead and would simplify this one step further. Use regular meals as "natural" hinges, and split them into two sets: start and end. My best mornings are: 6am swim/breakfast/meditate, 11am snack, 1pm lunch and end dinner by 8pm, read/sleep by 9pm. Thanks for explaining the benefits, I kind of gravitated towards these habits, but never thought of them as being systematically useful until now!

Thanks for the life-changing video, and reminding us how powerful time-blocking can be for focused productivity. The alarms are a great addition. Something that I did that might help others: I listed all of my time blocks in order by time of day, with the number of hours I would ideally spend on each in a perfect day. I ended up with 33 hours worth of time blocks! I kept rearranging and reducing the blocks until I was down to 24 hours that I was excited about. I was able to keep all of my blocks and even include time for things that feel like luxuries. I then put times of day next to each block. I'm sure it will require fine-tuning, but it is a great start. Now its time to set my alarms for the key dominoes, and start knocking knocking them down.🚀

Whoever edits these at 3:00, well done, even the small things are well thought out, I liked how the "Aligned" was literally aligned unlike the other two words.

This is a key-stone video for mastering your key-stone habit! Thanks a lot Rian!

My notes:

### Domino Habits

- A daily habit that positively influences the rest of your behavior throughout the day (for most people waking up early)
- Acts as a trigger for automatic execution of other high-performance habits

### Temporal Landmarks

- Dates or events that create a distinction between past and future selves
- Utilizing temporal landmarks within a 24-hour cycle can lead to continuous fresh start effects and promote behavioral consistency.
- Enhances consistency further with intraday temporal landmarks

### Implementation

- Map out the temporal landmarks within your daily routine
- Set alarms for each temporal landmark to create triggers that prompt behavior adjustments and facilitate progress throughout the day
- Alarms act as hinges, guiding you from one activity to another and maintaining alignment with the domino habit

### Why?

- Reduces cognitive load by dividing the day into manageable segments
- Simplifies decision-making and outsources time management
- Allows you to be more present, increasing your ability to enter flow states and improve focus
- Facilitates efficiency, productivity, and alignment with desired habits

## His Routine
- 5:30am Wake Up and Flow
- 8:00am Reboot Routine
- 5:00pm Work Finishes
- 6:00pm Finish Eating
- 8:30pm Ready for Bed
- 9:00pm Be in Bed Ready to Sleep

I watched one of your other videos and the (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Wake up and while you're still groggy and don't know wtf is going on, get to work" I did it in the past couple of days, and I can say I've been super productive, flow is something so easily accessable to me now that I have no clue where have you been all my life.
