Theres a lot of things we need to cover with this card, lots of good stuff though. Something that Asus has started doing I think the whole industry needs to follow and do too. Get yourself comfy and enjoy your brew, its time for a review!

When you cheap out on the specs of the cable, and then cheap out on the load balancing of the >US$2000 card, all so your CEO can buy a few more custom leather jackets.

These prices are just stupid. I don't think 6 shunt resistors and a few extra lines of code costs $1000...

Tom I found a mistake in your review. You cannot flip the fans or change their orientation for airflow. The fan header only has male pins, the connector on the other side only has male pins as well. It can only go into the header it correctly is connected to from the factory. The fill port on the rad blocks the other side so you can’t flip them. I found this out today on mine when setting it up.

0:25 Unfortunately Tom is incorrect here. The "Power Detector +" (per pin amperes) software ONLY works with the ASTRAL series. The 5090 TUF and TUF OC does NOT get this feature. Unfortunately there's not a lot of info online but the 6 shunt resistors that help measure amps per pin can be seen on the Astral PCB in techpowerup's database. They have not yet included the TUF but it has been confirmed by Asus and other users.

7:55 Gigabyte and MSI have their hoses at the end of their liquid cooled cards and I think that makes more sense and should lead to easier hose management for the radiator in most cases. I'm not sure why ASUS went with the side hosing here.

Im liking the vid because its you, but disliking the vid cause Asus are smoking crack

h7 flow for this setup, 360mm gpu radiator on top, 420mm cpu radiator in the front (tubes down, there is space)

Water cooled is must have. It's a more quiet and consistent speed, not like ramping up and down a helicopter or old vacuum cleaner...
But in general it's wrong direction to top up performance by adding more wattage. 574 is a lot... I would prefer a more wattage-economical variant of 4090, or 4090 "Plus" with extra memory, but not a "furnace". Especially if someone is using the founders edition in an enclosed case.

575w in an enclosed case with no blow out type of fan is crazy.... on the other hand, might be a reason is that EACH video cable will have like 125W hot air blow, so they prefer to put hot air inside, like "it will burn other components, like memore and CPU, but it's not our problems"...

8:58 sorry but no, you cannot just flip them up right round and have them push pull.

I tried this model. $4000 for negligible raster improvement. It's going back today. It looks very nice though.

Hi I got the same card, did you experience LOUD COIL WHINE with yours?

It seems as soon as it draws more than 200w it starts making that electric noise like crazy -.-

Sadly on mine you cannot flip the fans over, as the mag clip does not work on the flip side of the fan, due to a nub sticking out. I had tried to do this, to only fail. I had to change my whole lay out within the case, as also use an AIO which now moved to the front. The clip cable is too small to even place the fans on the other side of the rad. Information about this card, is as rare as getting one in the first place. My case for info is the Fractal Meshify 2 XL.

Thanks for the review :) using your overclock as my safe one. Lots of room to go further (for minimal gains) but nice to know if I really want to push the GPU I can. With the UK heatwave coming in, I'll stick to undervolting or letting the fans run at higher rpms :)

Phanteks NV7 case (had to remove my 4 rear fans to fit the radiator, due to having an AIO already for the CPU.

I think I'll have to go custom loop watercooling for the first time, if they keep pushing things to the limit.

great video, i was wondering when the card was throwing the red lights for the per pin power detection was there any sort of audible notification or alert or do you just have to keep your eyes on the app every now and then and the alert is only visual?

I love your videos but I have a feature request. Can you section your charts out with dividers for the different levels of DLSS/FG etc. Having all the cards interleaved like that with different settings makes it really hard to compare their relative performance. I'm pausing and staring at these charts for minutes at a time trying to comprehend where each card sits, and all it really needs is to be grouped by setting with a dividing line between each – unshuffled, basically. Thanks of listening.

These prices and performance stagnation has killed any interest in this generation for me.
I was gonna pick up a 5090, if I could grab one. I just don't care anymore.
$3k for a gpu that has negligible improvements over the already stupidly priced $2k versions? A power connector that worked fine in the 30 series, that they intentionally downgraded, heard criticism, and refused to revert just to save a few bnucks? This generation has got to be one of the worst by FAR.

Surprised Roman didnt use his own small board thing that you plug into the card and then plug the 12vhpwr into for measuring power.

2:51 My CableMod cable was causing my 4090 to crash and kernel panic randomly at idle. Took me 6 months to figure out it was the cable. Went back to the stock Nvidia cable and haven’t had the issue in almost two years. Then I bought the 90° adapter they made which got recalled. So now I’m skeptical of trying their cables again.
