What I learned: There is much money involved; staggering! ASCAP profits more from artists than BMI. Finally, I learned it doesn't cost nearly as much to join as I thought.

Back in 2013 I did my due diligence research on both, ended up choosing BMI, joined them in 2014, and been with them since. Back then their contract stated that once you joined them, you'll exclusively be stuck with them for your first two years. And after two years you're free to leave them whenever you want. Don't know if that still applies to this day.

The number one takeaway I had from this was the Article of Agreement from ASCAP and how they can change it which is something I never knew. That's definitely something I will take into consideration. Thanks so much for this information

I absolutely did not know Ascap was one of the original PRO's and that it had so much power in the music industry. It basically controlled the market. Although, it does makes sense due to the fact that it founded in the European culture, and they were big on classical arts of music.
