Figuring out where to stay in Berlin can be challenging and overwhelming as Berlin is such a big city. I've lived here and still go back to the German capital numerous times a year, so I know all the best areas and places to stay in Berlin.

In this video, I'm taking you on a tour of the 3 best areas to stay. So whether it's your first time in Berlin, you've been here before, or you're a true Berlin connoisseur - I hope there's some new information for you in the video.

And if you're still unsure where to stay in Berlin after watching, leave a comment below, and I'll do my best to help 🤝

1. MITTE

Mitte is the closest thing we can get to a city centre in Berlin. This is the best area to stay in Berlin for first-timers and those who want to stay close to the main attractions.

2. PRENZLAUER BERG

Prenzlauer Berg is my favourite area in Berlin and an excellent place to stay for families as well as those looking for a bohemian vibe but in a very safe and secure way.

3. FRIEDRICHSHAIN

Friedrichshain is still a bit rough around the edges, and there's a certain vibe here that you won't find in other parts of Berlin. I find it very charming, and I think it's the perfect area for young travellers and tourists looking for that famous Berliner atmosphere.

I hope you liked this guide on where to stay in Berlin and that you've now got a better understanding of the German capital.

On my three visits to Berlin I´ve either stayed in Wilmersdorf, which is quiet, or near the Ku for attractions and easy access, but I´ve always found Schönberg to be the nicest place for cafes and restaurants and a lovely peaceful vibe.

As a Berliner some of my favourite parts of the city are: Wilmersdorf/Charlottenburg: the area around Savignyplatz, between Steinplatz and Kurfürstendamm.
Schöneberg: the area around Winterfeldplatz. Kreuzberg: around Mehringdamm, Gneisenaustrasse, Bergmannstrasse, Neukölln: between Hermannplatz and Maibachufer, Weserstrasse, Pannierstrasse. All these are parts of the city with a nice and very diverse urban feeling. You'll find lots of so called "Kiez" in many parts of Berlin, all with a nice flair.

Best place for me is Neukölln because it‘s authentic and not artificial. People are very nice, I feel more safe when the streets are full of people than empty. Best street Karl-Marx-Str. lots of original international Bars and shops - all cultures together, church, Mosque. Berlin more and more becomes a clean place without real charme in my opinion

Will be there in June... Can not wait. I am not in my 20's but would still like to stay in a young and hip area... Cool area with bars and cafe's. And lots of street art

Nice video. That said, the first area I stayed in Berlin was right next to the Hbf. The price was right and my accommodations were fine. Location-wise, It was super convenient thanks to the city's great transportation system and central enough to be not far on foot from many key locations. But this short video offers a nice look at a variety of other parts of town. Berlin is an affordable world-class destination, and I can't wait for my next visit. Vielen Dank und Tschüß ...

Thanks for dropping this! Brings back many memories for me. My first apartment in Berlin was at Kastanienallee 18! I used to walk around the corner to Mauer Park on Sundays in the summer in 2012 when Berlin was still sexy-cheap. I remember going to Fete De La Musique there.

Also, did you forget to put a shot of vodka in your Club Mate?😂😂😂

F-Hein was great for me in 2012-2014. Simon Dach Str had many cool bars and I also went to Cassiopeia. Not sure if it’s still open. If one was new in Berlin back then, you had to hit up Club Matrix at Warschauerstr 😂

I don’t think Wedding will ever be the place to be. I was told it would be when I first moved to Berlin in April 2012. Neukölln and Kreuzkölln were the places to be along with some of the bars like Monarch, Luzia, and Cake Club near Kotbusser Tor.

If one lives on Paul Linke-Ufer or Reichenbergerstr, it shouldn’t be too bad unless that has changed.

Zollpackhof is a lovely biertgarten right on Hbf! you also have a really cool beach around hbf, you re short walk to Moabit with lovely cafes and Restaurant, you re a few tram stops away from Rosenthaler Platz, one Sbahn stop away from Friedrischtrasse Hbf is a great place to stay in Summer!!! I dont see the problem at all.

The worst thing that can happen to you in Kreuzberg is that a millionaire evicts you from your appartement 😂
