Bottom slots allow for T-joints; like for building bookshelves and sht.
These bottom slots are fixed 1-1/8” max width (for T joints).
The bottom slots also allow for easy HW/hardware fastening access, for drilling pilot holes, screws, nails, brad-nails, crown-staples, etc.
