Shades of God is a masterpiece, I remember when I was fourteen yrs old and I fell in love with that album, it's a part of my soul.

so, I found out that Shades of God got extremely positive reviews when it came out, even being called one of the best metal albums in 1992.
and today, most people don't talk about it. Cause a year later they released Icon, and two years after that Draconian Times.

That's when you know what fucking talented musicians these guys were in their youth!

After so many years, I'm listening back to these albums. I was one of those who thought that the disappearance of the grunt voice ruined the genre. Only My dying bride faired well after the change. Shades of god was for me the pinnacle of the era. And Anathema, Paradise Lost and My dying bride were the Trinity. Tiamat were anemic :)
Of boy, I was 14 and very convinced of my tastes :) :) :)
