I've been reading SciFi since I was a kid. It is interesting going back and rereading old stories to see how accurate the author's prognostications turned out.

And now we’re lift and landing 20 story buildings into outer space. Damn

And not only fly non stop across the Atlantic, but 70 years later, Concorde would fly across it in 2 1/2 hours, faster than sound

He was right. What is more radical: going from animals (horses) to machines (trains, cars, aviation..), or from a machine to another machine?

I think it’s funny that they talk about spacecraft with sails that catch photons from the sun. It’s like going back in time and into the future at the same time. Someone will go down in history as the first space pirate.

Not to mention 60 years later we went to the moon

went from steam to internal compustion in 19th C then stayed with that for everyday use for the next century, I don't think he was so far off.

Not sure what the newspaper man really said, yet I remember looking at a $250 bicycle in 1983 thinking, this is such a marvel of modern manufacturing, I just can’t imagine how they will make this better. . . and they did, 1, 000x. And I enjoyed every improvement, slack jawed, mind blown, simply bc I was looking, watching & waiting. Now we have e-bikes! WoW !, what a ride!? I hope the transportation guy lived 30 years past his statement. If he did, I wonder what he’d say to what he saw.

They didn't imagine the efficient road networks either. Or the enormous cargo ships.

You’re terrific Neil. I thoroughly enjoy watching. Great common sense couple with intelligence and education. I’d love to meet you and have a conversation. You should hang out with Elon and run the world!!! Lol

My grandfather, who was born in 1895, told me in 1976 that in his lifetime, he saw man go from riding horses to walking on the moon. The political climate changed in mine. There's almost no motivation for the USA to progress. Sending humans to Mars is still 50 years away. The robotic exploration is the only thing advancing.

Wonder what transportation will be like in the 22nd century and I wonder how cheap and low cost it will become to send humans into space.

I just can NOT believe it’s already 2025- a QUARTER CENTURY had already passed.. it’ll legit be 2100 before we know it.. and 2033 even faster- to make it 1/3rd of a century 🤦🏽‍♂️

Tyson is wrong. The move from horse or canal boats to trains was much more significant than the move from trains to airplanes.
