Показать описание
Catania Cathedral (Duomo di Catania or Cattedrale di Sant'Agata), a Roman Catholic cathedral in Catania, Sicily, was originally built between 1078–1093 on the ruins of a Roman bath and was destroyed and rebuilt several times, due to earthquakes and the eruption of the Etna volcano.
You can also see Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo), where next to the cathedral there are famous buildings: Uzeda Gate (Porta Uzeda, where we entered the square), Elephants Palace (Palazzo degli Elefanti), where the town hall is located and the Palace of the Seminary of the Clerics (Palazzo del Seminario dei Chierici). In the center of the square is the Elephant Fountain Obelisk, and at the end you can admire the Amenano fountain.
