Jaguar XF saloon 2007 - 2011 review - CarBuyer

Good to look at and even better to drive, the Jaguar XF is everything a top British luxury car should be. Its leather-trimmed interior is wonderfully detailed, and a world away from the dark, sombre cabins of many Audis and BMWs. Refined and well equipped, we say it's one of the best executive cars money can buy. The range is limited, though. The 3.0 V6 diesel engine is the top-seller, although the V6 petrol engine is cheaper to buy - but it's less powerful and economical. High-performance V8 petrol and supercharged XFR variants offer incredible pace and for their performance, reasonable economy.

Am I the only one who loves the look of a car on a rainy day? You know, with the drops of water on the surface of the car, and the gray skies that set the mood calm, peaceful drive.

got my 2nd Jag - 3.0 S and boy I just love seeing cars still moving slowly away from traffic lights is a joy to be seen - great price for an used car but will keep it serviced to ensure lots of happy motoring over the next few years till we all have to buy electric!

lol thats why you buy used jags, instead of new ones, such a good car for the price.

2019.5 and still enjoying my 2011 XF 5.0 Supercharged (with some-xfr upgrades) @ about 50k-mi. Regularly serviced by JLR and has had no (serious) issues. Never been a fan of Jaguar but absolutely love this model/setup.

Best engine the 3.0 diesel I have driven very calm and quiet 32mpg and I once I had 48mpg on a long run on the motorway . Always wanted one but was scared of reliability problems but you don’t see many on the back of tow trucks so took a chance. Never regretted it, a lot of car for your money second hand so if you want one take a chance it’s some kind of motor and its British

It is a British company. They are designed, manufactured and engineered in Britain by British workers. Built using European parts like any other European car, using British material suppliers. These days, car companies especially get bought and sold off all the time. Did you know Mercedes now has French and Japanese investment in the form of Renault and Nissan providing diesel engines to Merc? Did you know 20% of Volkswagens shares are with a Qatari investment consortium ? It really makes no difference. TATA wrote JLR a blank cheque, told them o produce and develop whatever was on the drawing board. Also, there is more to that deal than it simply being Indian owned. Many of its shares were bought by the British government, so it has genuine British investment. Whatever, they are gorgeous cars.

I have the XF 2010 and at 5'11" there is plenty of space in the back seats and head room I have never had any passenger complain about being short of space.
Economy on a run I regularly 48 to the gallon so not bad

Rented one of these for a weekend. Love it.. Quick. Quiet. Solid feel. Only two concerns.. When going over sudden changes in the road (bumps, pot holes) the sure footedness disappeared and the car seemed less confident. Unlike my BMW that soldiers right thru it. The other is maintenance. Jags history isn't very good and if I'm correct recent JD Power ratings show some "bugs" are still there.

Matt 11 years ago: ooh yeah a touch sensitivite button, I like that
Matt now: Oh no a touch sensitive button why can’t they just have a proper button for that?

I'm rooting for Jaguar. I hope they get better and I know they are. I'm glad they didn't go the way of the do do (bird). They might have been troublesom cars in the past (reliability) but hopefully that improves. They are the few carmakers that envoke great beautiful designs as well as performance. A unique driving experience. The XF and the new XKF are sexy.

i've seen this car a lot on the internet, but yesterday one pulled up along side me at a stoplight and my god...it has got to be one of the most beautiful cars to look at. although i do welcome the new headlight design on the new face-lifted one.

@lewis72 (Except for your terminology) I agree with what you said. I never intended to put down or look down upon Jaguars, they are indeed amazing machines. I wish to own the XJ some day, but that'll be difficult, so I don't mind getting an XF either. They are much more luxurious than their German competitors. What made you think I thought ill of them? I simply stated facts. Also, Tata's are amazing people, very honest, respectable and growth oriented, I am proud of both.
