you would constantly hit your knee on the stem while the gears would change unexpectedly

how does it down shift when the driver decelerates? people stop pedaling and then apply the breaks when they want to stop. how does this idea approach downshifting when the pedals are not rotating?

Wouldn’t it be much easier to get a set of those electric derailleurs and a crankset power-meter and hook them up to each other, so that once the power meter detects a specific pedaling speed power output and road speed it would make the shift?

Now the rider doesnt know when its going to shift so the chain is going to be under full load during a shift.
This means bent sprocket teeth and chain plates.

Wouldn't a CVT just be better and cheaper?
