🔴 Datron 1062 Multimeter Repair Part 1 SN_016117 - No.795

Показать описание
I start to repair a Datron 1062 which has no display.

I check the power supplies for correct function and test some of the common failures, I then find that the display is cracked.

I reverse engineer the display driver to work out how it can be modified to allow use of 7 segment displays instead, and design my own replacement display module.

I begin to do the conversion which I will finish in the next video, so make sure you subscribe and click the bell to see the entire process and display testing.

I will make my replacement display boards available for sale as soon as I have finalised the design and created formal instructions on how to convert the Datron for it.

Click the Bell Icon to get notifications about my future videos!

Stacked PROMS are common in some equipment where they have CS lines on one device and /CS lines on the other, so they can double up on the capacity in 1 socket

You did a great job on replacing the broken display. Was there no chance of getting a direct replacement?

That was a real shame that the display was buggered :-(
Hopefully your led display doesn't need too much current, leds are greedy lol.
My mate had a racal counter with numerators, very sad looking.
I cut the high voltage and plopped new driver chips on a bit of stripboard, wired that to 7 segment displays.
Worked fine!, the psu didnt give a dam.
The idea was to make it easy to reverse if the numerators became available, they never did :-(.
I was wondering if you were going to do a similar thing, a temp setup so you can get the rest of the meter working.
Yes i know, a vfd, Chickens teeth lol.

Bro not a negative comment here but I use to watch this channel all the time for CB radio repair. Did you start another channel for that subject?
