Gorran Kendall You are the One (original song)

Hey guys! Here is another song from my first headline show. This one is a live concert performance of an original song called You Are the One. To launch my Debut EP "After Hours" back in 2022 I played my first headline gig at The Folklore Rooms in Brighton on the 9th of March, featuring two special guests of mine Georgia Hazelgrove and Julia Traser. I was so thrilled to fill out such a lovely intimate venue which was just the perfect space for me and my music, bringing the busking (very off the cuff) spirit to the Stage :D

For me this song is like Leonard Cohen Hallelujah (with endless verses), but in fight mode.

"There's no one to beat you, defeat you, mistreat you
You are the one with the power to free you" - that's my line.
Trapped in someone else's delusional cycle and barely breathing, you cannot imagine what kind of kick was that line.

About " the power and the wealth" .
So you can laugh all day, but I was raised with the idea that "power and will" are basically the same thing, so the words that I've heard (in different parts and versions ) are:
- wealth, well and wheel.

I love this song so much. I scoured YouTube for every video of you singing this I could find. While you wrote this when you were 22, the lyrics and the message is just as relevant today, if not more so. As a current day rebellious non-sheep, it really speaks to me.

This is by far my favourite song of yours, such insightful and empowering lyrics throughout. The whole piece spoke to my soul deeply on many levels, especially the lyrics "There's no one to beat you, defeat you, mistreat you, YOU are the one with the power to free you".

Can't wait to hear the remastered version as this live performance was so good, but with lyrics like that to absorb, the music paled into insignificance on the first three listens (I enjoyed it so much I replayed it back).😊
