Paper Marbling Tutorial--Part 1

Hello, Everyone!
We have put together an introductory tutorial on paper marbling--Ebru style. This video contains basic supplies, methods, cleaning the thickened water (size) and we also make one print, the stone pattern.

I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE VIDEO: To dry your finished marbled papers, hang them on a horizontal pole (I usually use my broom and mop handles), making sure the paper doesn't touch itself or any other paper around it.

Perfect tutorials for this. I am just starting and waiting for all my ingredients to arrive. I will spray paint my pan white as that is a great tip. Also, I will move into the garage with a work sink, instead of my kitchen!

I loved hearing EVERY detail of how you did this marbeling. You laid out all of the info in a great, easy to follow way! Have you done any more since this video came out? I think these prints are so professional looking. The difference between this and shaving cream marbeling is so apparent! People who can take the few minutes it takes to learn the basics will be able to create stunning effects! Thanks so much for showing this! It put me in mind of William Morris for some reason...the prints are just gorgeous!

I just did a marble kit from amazon and i didnt have to do anything to my paper...thr paint appears to be acrylic and i have no idea what the water stuff was..made it kind of slippery feeling and had to sit for 6 hours to dissolve...i didnt get to it for a whole other 24 hours and it worked fantastic...bright as all get out..and floated wonderfully..

Is there a reason to NOT treat both sides of the paper with alum? Would different paper like cotton paper hold the alum better?
