I cuff it, but i still grab the handle on that, so my wrist is not on a vurnerable position like that. Feels amazing.

Also, lean towards the supporting bar not away from it. Almost every newer study has found that getting a full stretch is essential. That is the only position on this exercise where you can achieve a full stretch and contraction

Please just use a cuff, doing this while trying to progress overload (at-least in my experience) makes it so if you have a consistent rise of weight while using this method, its not really a game of if you’ll injure your wrists, its a game of when you’ll injure your wrists

Keep your wrist straight and not in that weird bended position and you will even prevent injuries.

Also, I basically use those leg clip things that people use for leg curls on cables I just put it around my wrist

My wrist definitely hurts from that. I just go beyond +ultra that loop and grab the ball at the end of the cable directly.

Yup. It feels so much better because doing it with just finger grip and not full hand grip feels like the flaming fires of hell.

Okay, that's a good variation that I can use if I need it. I have a long way to go, however, before grip strength becomes an issue with my lateral raises, since I cannot use much weight with them anyway at this stage of my training.

Protip:
Get one of the ankle cuffs with the metal rings, attach that to the cable. It doesn't slide like the D handle does on your wrist.

Hold a pool ball or something similar to stabilize your wrist during the movement.

I love this exercise, luckily my gym has a cuff attachment but the weight stack jumps by 10 so it's hard to overload 😢

I tried this and it was just distracting having to position my wrist in a way such that the cuff wouldnt slide up my arm when i was at the peak contraction.

It either slide up my arm or i was focused on my wrist more than my side delt
