OSFirstTimer - House Tour!

Welcome to the official OSFirstTimer house tour... well er, we actually live in an apartment but yea :P

This apartment is located on the northern beaches of Sydney in Australia in a touristy area called "Manly". The block was built in the 1960's. When we moved in, most of the block had a 1960's feel except for the 1980's bathroom and early 2000's kitchen. We renovated the place in 2010 to bring it up to modern living standards.

Do remember, it took a LOT of hard work (over 25 years of 7 days per week work combined between Ben and Diana) to be able to afford this place. They didn't "receive an inheritance" or anything like that, it was all through their own hands.

Anyway, hope you guys like the place, it will be up for rent in 2 months once we move to Tasmania in late January so no, we won't be living here anymore (thus why we felt it was appropriate to make a house tour before we moved).

There are, of course, many family channels on YouTube...but I really LOVE The Adams Family, their videos have that special something about them, yes, this channel's are tech-focused, which I love, but the close-knit family relationships are so lovely to watch.

The story behind this apartment is realy impressive. It shows that you can get almost everything you want "just" by hard work. You can be realy proud on your parents. They have been working their asses of to offer you such a beautiful place to live. I wish you the best of luck with your new house in Tasmania!

Haha, after 5 years of actively watching OSFirstTime and OSFT Vlogs, Astral Phaser and Arch Linux Adventures a lot of episodes show footage of the flat, just a little bit in some episodes. But those bits add up, and I had a complete image of your wonderful flat since from all those bits and this video is just confirming everything. That feeling is so awesome!

Wow, one of the most beautiful and perfect apartments! It has everything one could dream of: view, city, beach, mountains, modern, very elegant and tasteful style.
One one side, it's a dream place, on other side, having some time, relax and fun in life is more important.

Good luck in a new place!

I didn't know you can put emotions on a house tour video.

Very interesting story. I really had assumed that your parents had high paying jobs since you had such a nice place. I'd even been dreaming of living in a place like that overlooking the beach. Seemed like bliss but then Diana mentions the traffic being bad. Great to know how they both worked hard. When we were kids my dad had a 9-5 job as a heavy machine repair guy. He also worked as a barman weekend nights and installed central heating systems from time to time. My mum worked hard around the home. I really appreciate hard workers. Glad you guys are adjusting to be more happy. Good on ya mates!! (as they say in Auz) ;-)

It's like a dream house of mine if I was to ignore all those traffic jams and other big city problems. Glass, metal, marble with soft touches of a human hand - all look so amazing, yet not overdone, nor tacky! Mmhmm... not to forget the beach, the sound and smell of the sea flowing... Magnificent home for a magnificent family.

Wish you all the best finding yourself in a new place!

Really enjoyed the video. Have watched some of your os videos in the past. This was a nice change of pace. So often videos are shown where people get tired of the rat race and the constant pursuit of money and surviving. YouTube videos are all about people living in buses, sailing, small homes, etc. to enjoy things other than working all the time even though most of us don't have a choice. They find a way knowing life is too short to be unhappy most of the time. Look forward to some videos from tasmania. I haven't had a real vacation a.k.a holiday in about ten years so your not alone. Enjoyed the video when Diana got a new car. Thank you Ben, Diana, and Philip. Hope I got all the names right.

First of all -- a lovely family as always. I also appreciate the feel frustration in a society that puts commerce before people. It's so twisted that we are doing to this to ourselves and so I celebrate when people are willing to admit something seems off.

Regarding real estate I'd consider looking into both of you becoming Mom and Pop Realtors. Diana clearly is the out front person while Ben could handle phones and -- no joke intended -- driving customers to lots and homes. This is presuming Tasmania has a need for two more realtors.

By the by -- your presence on YouTube could spark interest in others doing exactly what you've done and YOU could sell them the properties.
