How do they know that none of the women dumped down that shoot underneath the elevator wasn't pregnant, or that none of the men and women, regardless of age, had heart problems, or an issue that requires them to not do anything strenuous, no running, falling onto mattresses, or getting dumped down amusement park style slides. If these are random people, Japan's lucky that they appear to be a generally non-litagational society. If they tried this game show in the States, you could call it "How Much Will Karen Sue Us For This Time?". Things like the water are fine. Just don't do things where people can fall and possibly get badly hurt. If this happened to me, my already damaged back and neck would definitely be badly affected. I really don't care for this, it's just not my cup of tea.

I was always a prankster growing up but one got me in real trouble. (this happened back in the early 70's) There was this girl that would steal anything she could get her hands on and she had done it all through school. (we grew up in a small farm community) So one day in 9th grade I came up with a plan to teach her a lesson. I took a small transistor radio and gutted it out except for the switch. I then took a couple of cherry smoke bombs and shaved them to make them square and fitted them in the case. Then I tied an Estes rocket igniter to the fuses and soldered it to a 9volt battery and the switch. I went into algebra class and set it on the counter next to the pencil sharpener hoping she would see it and would grab it and try to steal it. Well that didn't happen. Instead the head cheer leader went to sharpen her pencil, picked it up and turned it on. Well it started smoking so she screamed (then she threw it in to the middle of the classroom) then all the kids were screaming and running out of the room. They evacuated the whole school and made us sit on the lawn for about 45mins. and me and my friends were laughing our ass off. That's when the bomb squad from Golden Colorado showed up and I knew I was in trouble! They came out laughing when they found out what it really was. My mother actually went to my room and scooped up every thing on my work bench and brought it to the school and proved that I did it. But actually something good did come out of this bad joke that changed my life. The US Navy recruited me, sent me to school, let me see the world and gave me a clear direction in life! Not saying I still don't do pranks because I'm building the best one I ever made in the last 60yrs. It might even hurt people lmao!

That's the difference between the Japanese culture and most other cultures. They tolerate and even like these kinds of pranks. Even the victim laughs.

The bed rocket prank reminds me of a prank my grandfather helped pull on his drill sergeant, back in boot camp of WW2. (Forgive me if I get the details wrong, I’ll double check the details in his journal later.)

He and his fellow comrades woke up extremely early in the morning, picked up their superior’s bed from his tent, and carefully carried it to a nearby lake where the let the sleeping sergeant and the bed float off. Hee hee~

Japan is a *very* different culture. 😱😱😱 I agree with them; I laugh from shock, but I'm also thinking it's too bloody dangerous. I'd be attempting murder, with suing their pants off being in there somewhere. I grew up with a practical joker cousin. Hated it. Collapsed laughing when he wasn't careful enough and got a crotch shock stepping over an electric fence once. Served him right for not paying attention. *Revenge* on practical jokers is funny.

I think these types of pranks work only in the Japanese culture, where there is a huge "don't stir the pot" mentality. But I agree with the villagers that they look more cruel than funny, and you don't know who has knee problems or a heart condition or what have you, you could really hurt someone.

These guys are always so obsessed with the possibility of people getting hurt or things being dangerous
