MIM vs MBA
Confused between MIM and MBA? Please don’t tell me you think it's similar. Over the years, like the Masters in Management has been gaining prominence, it has often been confused with a type of MBA.
But on closer scrutiny, we can see several differences between the MBA & the MiM. Now let me start from the beginning.
1. Target audience-
MBA is suitable for an experienced professional with 3-4 years of work ex. Whereas MIM is for freshers, recent graduates, or professionals who are looking for a jumpstart in their career.
2. Goals of applicants-
If your goal is career development like moving up in the career ladder, are looking for more knowledge in the field, higher salaries, or just a strong network then go for MBA. but if you are a fresher and want a kickstart with really amazing MNCs or are just looking for a change in the field then MIM is your mate.
3. Curriculum goals-
MBA is focused on Getting Specialised Knowledge, Slew of specializations, and elective courses, it allows you to dig deep into particular business areas. However, MiM is for building a Foundation, Set of courses aimed towards building a business foundation has limited electives
4. POST - GRADUATION OPPORTUNITIES
MBA will snatch you the mid-level or higher-level job opportunities with big checks averaging around 100,000$. However, MiM provides you with entry-level jobs and a decent paycheck of around 50,000$.
Now after all the facts are dumped. I know you might have a question - “Can I do an MBA after MiM?” Yes, you can. It makes more sense to do a 1-year MBA a few years after your MiM. After 4-5 years of work experience, you are more mature professionally to absorb the learning imparted during an MBA and undertake more nuanced leadership training.
