$4000-$5000 deductibles for employer provided healthcare is NOT AFFORDABLE !!!

I am German. in my 35th year, I was diagnosed with an unhealable condition that makes my bones more weak through the years. I had to retire even though I am a Clerk and this work does not aquire much physical fitness. Now, the state pays me a small amount of money every month to live. But I am on normal german state-run health insurance. I dislocated my shoulder last year and the joint was badly damaged. So I got surgery and rehabilitation for free. And I consider this a human right. As eeverybody knows, Germany is not on the brink of Communism and has a booming economy. After all, it was not the DDR, a socialist state, that took over the BRD 1990, it was the other way around.

Amen. Just had an mri denied by my insurance company despite being chronically ill for almost 3 years. I've lost everything and now I'm a slave to whether my insurance will say they think I need something. It's insane.

I feel so sorry for Americans who do not have any healthcare. In the UK I can go to my doctor, or just a medical walk in centre and get help immediately . No checks on health insurance . Our system is free at the point of access . I'm at a loss as to why America thinks it's the Greatest place to live. Yeah! If your financially stable. Go BERNIE... you are the man the USA needs to make it at least Greater than it is now. And one other thing, unemployed people here get 100% the same deal as people who are in work. Of course we can also get Private medical care if we choose. WAKE UP AMERICA! You should all be HEALTHY...Even if you're not WEALTHY. As BERNIE says AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE SHOULD BE A RIGHT!.

Dauuuum, I just remembered that. My employer changed my group coverage without asking me. They provided a crappy plan and said, 'take it or leave it.' Wow, I never thought about that. The righties act like they got a choice. It's not your choice, it's your damn employer's choice.

Here in the UK, employers don't need to include healthcare costs into their budgets and expenditures, freeing them up to pay better wages and be MORE profitable.
Employees aren't trapped in shitty jobs, we can move from job to job without worrying about their "benefits" packages.
Thank you Labour (LEFTY) Government from 1948!

as a canadian i can say that the overwhelming majority of canadians will never want to change our healthcare system with the american private insurance system.

Here in the UK you never see prescription medications advertised on TV like you do in the US.

I pay more than twice as much every year for health insurance and copays/deductibles than I do in taxes. I also have to change plans nearly every year to keep it affordable. So go ahead and double my taxes for medicare for all. I will come out money ahead. I am having a gastroscopy in two weeks and even with insurance my out of pocket is going to be $900. Ana is also right about people being held hostage in jobs they hate because they don't want to lose their health insurance. It would likely drive wages up because people would be more inclined to find a job they really like or start a business. Before I started my business the single biggest thing I worried about is health insurance. It is still a constant worry.

Private insurance through my employer, a world-wide wealthy law firm had a $1, 0000 deductible. I fell and shattered both knees. A neurosurgeon explained why I needed surgery. I paid for the x-rays and dr. appt. but not close to the $1, 000. Even then, they only paid 80%. I had two prescribed leg braces to help me walk, but continued walking only caused more damage. Blue Cross refused to cover the braces. I had to pay out of pocket. It's been years and to this day I cannot walk, often fall and incur more damage to my hips, knees, bones and shoulders depending on how I fell. Employer insurance was no help at all. Between the $1, 0000 deductible, their refusal to pay for leg braces and at most 80% for surgery I received no care at all.

I as an American would far rather be known as from a country that heals people than a country that kills people.
