Solve for Happy By Mo Gawdat: Animated Summary
Показать описание
Today's Big Idea comes from Mo Gawdat and his Book "Solve for Happy". The book takes its starting point in the premise that Happiness starts with a conscious choice. A conscious choice of accepting life exactly as it is.
In 2014 Mo Gawdat was put to the ultimate test when he lost his son during a simple surgical procedure. Seventeen days after this tragedy occurred, he started writing “Solve for Happy”.
Gawdat argues that being happy is our birthright! Our default state. Look at a baby - straight from the factory and set to the optimal settings! If babies have their basic needs covered then they live in the moment and in an immanent state of joy.
This default state applies to adults too. You don’t need a reason to be happy. All you need is “no reason” to be unhappy. Happiness is the absence of unhappiness. It is our resting state when nothing causes interference.
Gawdat, therefore, reasons that we need to “reset our factory settings” and get back to our default state of happiness. To help with this process he created a repeatable engineered model to reach a state of uninterrupted happiness regardless of the circumstances of life. It goes like this: Happiness is equal to or greater than your perception of the events of your life minus your expectations of how life should behave.
His point is that Happiness starts with a conscious choice. A slight change in the way we think can have a drastic impact on how we feel.
