E30 Fuel Filter and Hoses

How to replace the fuel filter and fuel injection hoses on the BMW E30. Had to do this after discovering that one of the hoses in the engine bay was leaking and spraying fuel all over. Im lucky to have discovered this on time and avoided a potential fire.

Great vide and really clarifies the issue. I had a similar problem a few month ago, I had fuel pipes replaced by BMW Classic garage. Problem was they didn't tighten up the clips and I kept getting a smell of gas. I drove for 300 miles and eventually decided to figure out the problem - I'm not a mechanic but can use spanners. Anyway found the leak on the left hand side of of engine block where hose wasn't tightened and fixed the problem. However, a few weeks later I was still getting the fuel smell in the car. Did some more investigations and found it was the connection from pipes to rubber hoses on righthand side of engine. It was the plastic connectors. One of them had a slice across the ribs probably done when they were trying to get the hose off. It led to a very light spray. Got replacement from BMW and fixed myself and it runs well. Always check when a garage does work on your vehicle no matter how recommended they are. It's not their car, so they wont car as much as you do. Drive safely

gracias. fuel line leaks in the engine compartment are very dangerous. like someone else commented, i'd also replace the fuel line that goes from the fuel tank to the fuel filter. thanks for making the video. buena suerte.

THANK YOU!!!! This is exactly what I needed to see. I wouldn't have even thought of pulling the #11 fuse. My E30 developed its fuel hose leak on the interstate yesterday. I could see the fuel gauge go down by the foot, not the mile! Half a tank of gasoline in 43 miles. Great video. Pretty E30!!

Excellent video, mine also leaks from the same location. Glad it's a simplish fix.

Check the upper and lower vacuum elbows that are on the throttle body. Your upper appears to be coming out of the throttle body. This is super common on the M20 B25 engines. It allows a small vacuum leak and will affect performance. These elbows have splines and are press fit into the throttle body and over time they can work themselves loose. Best to use a sealant of some type after pressing them back into the throttle body.

Dude, cool vid but can i just say. If you have a tear in your hose, it can be fuel hose hydraulic line what ever. You will never have pressure in it. Why? Cause u already have a tear where the pressure leaks out with your fluid! :D Just keep that in mind !
