Hi! I'm a native American English speaker. You do speak pretty close to the American accent although we would still be able to tell that there is still some accent/weird pronunciation on some words.
However I just wanted to say to everyone from India or any other country, if you want to learn the American accent for your own interest, it's perfectly fine, but I hope you don't feel like you have to speak with an American accent to talk to Americans, live in America, etc. or that the American accent is better than the Indian accent or any others. Your culture and accent and other languages are just as valuable and cool! ❤

I was born in American Midwest. A suburb of Chicago. I don't think there is anything wrong with an Indian accent or any type of accent. I actually like it when girls from India or Pakistan or countries from that region speak English with an accent. Am I missing something?

Hi Adithya! You sound very natural in the American Accent which is awesome. I have a question for you, I myself have been learning and practicing imitation for past 2 years now(Also American accent) and the results that I'm getting are remarkably good. I have no problem with talking to people around the world they even mention that I should like a native but when it comes to my fellow Indians, I sometimes experience that they don't like the way I sound in English, or they say something like why do you want to sound like an American why don't stick with original Indian English. I'm having tough time to deal with this, I want to know what would you do if you were in my shoes?

The problem is there's no shortcut to get an accent. An accent can only be acquired by growing up or living in a place for a long time. If you ever wondered why don't British actors use their American accent 24/7 like Tom Holland or Benedict Cumberbatch from Marvel movies is because it's quite tiring to fake an accent. At the end of the day the actors are faking the accent and eventhough they can do it very well, it will strain their mouth.

Ask yourselves this, if you have a separate accent for your family and separate accent for your friends, this will be awkward for you when your family and friends meet up. What will your reply be if they question why are you speaking differently to them. Just be yourself and don't need to strain your tongue.

P.S from an Indian living in Australia

I've been watching English tv shows /movies/cartoons and playing English videogames all my life. In fact it's more of a native language, I even think in English. But I still have an Indian accent. If what you said was true, I should be able to have an American accent as well. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I've moved to Toronto recently, and people have pointed out to me, that I have a thick accent. They can understand me and there are no problems in conversing whatsoever, but I do notice locals here not wanting to hangout with me. I want to get rid of my thick accent as much as possible, I just want to connect with the locals, I am not ashamed of my accent but, I don't love it either.

As an American from central US (neutral American accent) I think he sounds pretty native, but it’s a bit off. Honestly it reminds me of how Amish people talk in English. They’re native but just sound kinda different. Overall I could easily believe he’s some kind of American though

You're about 80% right maybe. You've still got an accent. Sounds oddly british at certain places.
