Haha, I agree about On The Road! I always try my best to separate the artist from their art, but in this case, not only is On The Road rather sexist, but also in real life Kerouac was a misogynistic creep. Went out after page 1 lol XD

I recently completed the Poppy War trilogy and it was really good! Though I completely understand your desire to not want to finish it. while it's a good series, I think because it's about such a heavy topic it really takes so much energy to read
