Sir Cliff is a legend in the UK. His crossover recordings in the States in the late 70s and early 80s were excellent. It was then I discovered he had quite an impressive catalog and deserved so much more attention here.

Until this was posted I had no idea Cliff and the Shadows had appeared on Ed Sullivan almost a year before the Beatles. What a pity they never caught on here in the US. It would be more than a decade before Cliff finally had a hit record in America.

We already had Elvis & also the Ventures. I di love Cliff & the Shadows though. They had many great original songs & are worth seeking out. Here in the USA they got nowhere sadly.

This was probably the most rocking act to appear on TESS in the month of April 1963.

Wow. I've heard of Cliff Richard's name before but this is the first time I'm hearing and seeing him. I'm amazed at how modern his voice sounds especially compared to all the older artists I've watched on this channel. His tone sounds very current despite the old music style. I'm so glad this channel exists as it introduced me to a lot older artists. Watching their videos makes me feel like I'm being transported back to my parents childhood.

Am amazed that they didn't go wild for cliff and the shadows when they appeared on Ed sullivan. Clear, crisp vocals, great playing, good dance moves. Oh well!

That was brilliant....Read any rock and roll biography from the British Invasion ....Keith Richard, Andrew Oldham, Eric Burdon etc, and you'll find that Cliff Richard and The Shadows were legendary and an inspiration to all aspiring rockers in the early 60's

It's a mystery as to how Cliff and the Shadows and the Shadows on their own( probably the biggest instrumental group in popular music history) weren't massive in the states like they were in UK, Europe and Far East .

Wow, VERY rare footage and thanks for sharing their version of this great song. The guy on the right reminds me of Buddy Holly in looks and guitar playing.

When you watch this you realise how far back Cliff goes. He’s a legend. Sad he’s not recognised for that amongst the younger generation. More awareness needs to be given for such artists like him who have paved the way for the next generations. Why is this name mentioned more often when talking about music royalty in the UK?

This must be Brian Locking on bass. His last appearance with The Shadows was on Nov 3, 1963.
'Do You Wanna Dance' was released as the B-side to 'I'm Lookin' Out The Window'.

The British nice and clean Answer to ELVIS in the late 1950's. Sir Cliff Richard is one of the Best known Singer in Europe. He has had a lot of TOP Single Chart Hits in Europe throughout the 20th Century. I'm not a Fan, no way😉, but Cliff is Cult especially in the UK ✌️
@Cliff was a big Mentor on Olivia Newton John👍
